opnsysme Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Do negs with a harder gripper Quote Soli Deo Gloria
Matt76 Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Goal gripper atttempts helped me the most. Also after attempting close it with the other hand and hold it for as long as I could. That got me very consistant with it. I was able to to close it anytime anywhere cold and all within 2weeks of getting my grippers Quote
mooinabc1 Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Get the #3 and with extended handles. And do negative with the #3 Quote
FbaLLPlaya_53 Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 (edited) Stringray, Don't get frustrated, its only a matter of time until you get the #2 train your ass off and I garuntee that you will be closing it consistanly soon. P.s. Best of luck with the #2 Edited March 23, 2004 by FbaLLPlaya_53 Quote Sean Fogale Tacoma, Washington If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. slazbob Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 i agree with the other guy's, keep forcing it shut, and it will happen. when i shut my #2, thats all i did; i never even heard of strap-holds or over-crushs, when i started. it will come my friend. Quote
gotenmyoou Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Blockweights!! I Believe I closed #3 in a short period of time because I worked hard with block weights. Quote Real name: Yuichi Yokoyama
JeffPeterson Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 I would suggest getting the super advanced they are inbetween the #1 and #2. I personally don't like negs. a whole lot. I like going for singles, covering your gripper gaps helps keep you moving up slowly. Quote
JeffPeterson Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 It's OK to get frustrated and pissed this is what usually keeps me going. It's Quitting thats not OK. Quote
vince Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 unless you got an injury, don't take time off your crush, just keep pressing forward. you WILL make it Quote
HandsofStone Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 I am a big advocate of overcrushes. If you bust your ass on this exericise, you'll be slamming that #2 like it was going out of style. Digdogz Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 For what itz worth, I went all out on overcrushes on an RB160, inbetween grippers help alot. Once I could nail the #2 for a few singles in a workout I then went for overcrushes on it. Once I shut it I would then concentrate on applying as much force on the cloded handles as poss. Last night I did this and felt that crunch as the handles met and then some! It all comes down to variable training, in my eyes, this was the deciding factor in getting it shut finally. Hope this helps, Digz. P.s. It took me over 8 months from getting my two to shutting it. Different strokes.. Quote Ever since I was a child I have had this instinctive urge for expansion and growth. Adam Black Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Stay with it Stingray. Consistency is the key. It took me just over 12 months of solid training to progress from the #2 to the #3. If you keep at it, you'll mash it eventually. Best wishes. Quote
tmmicklabs Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Get a BB Master Gripper and do 10 seconds overcrushes with it. It's about a 1.7 to 1.9. After you can do 5 sets of 10 second overcrushes with it then you need to file it down a little bit. Quote

DoDa Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 I found doing attempts with the gripper I am trying to close to be the most helpful. After I can close the gripper then holding it closed builds consistency. Quote Real Name: Eric Danielson When you find you're following the wrong path, you correct course.

chris Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 (edited) I know what you mean stingray!, im also very frustrated with my consistancy, i can easily mash my #2 on a good day, but then i can only come about 1/8th on a bad day. I also close the #2 at inconsistant times of the day, such as really late at night... iv found that forcing the gripper closed with my other hand, and then trying to hold it has helped me out alot...best of luck Edited March 23, 2004 by chris Quote
ripsnorter Posted March 24, 2004 Posted March 24, 2004 Yeah the 2 is a bitch. I closed it but have not done it since. I am now trying to close it again-this time for reps and than maybe go on to the three. I got a bb master from Jeff P and closed it-but only for one rep. Lets see how I go. Quote
