Scrollwork

Well, since I didn't feel much like training today for strongman & we were looking for any excuse to waste time, I tried a little scrollwork. Took about 3.5' of 5/16 round stock & started playing. About 20 minutes later, I had a completely worthless, but nifty looking piece of steel. Going to get some flat bar on the next trip.

Also, on the news, we made an offer on a house today. One of the most exciting things - a 42' x 100' machine shed which my wife has designated as "my" space (she says she never wants to see the inside....lol). My new training hall & shop. I can get a Fingal's finger, a Conan's wheel, all the big implements I couldn't have before. Not related to bending of grip, but pretty cool.

Give us pictures after you get it set up.

Guys -

I already have a full set of stones, platforms, Farmer's implements, a log, a couple of axles, a yoke, an Atlas stone, a 56 lb weight for ht, various loading toys, an 800lb tire, an 1180 tire & a 1350 tire. I'll just be able to have them all in one place

(without getting in trouble with my wife for having too much crap in the garage). I did finish 12th at Nats for the Pro's in 2003. Got on TV on Fox sports & everything. I have a standing offer, anyone who wants to train with us is welcome, we go to it every Mon am at 10:30 am (I work every weekend as a registered nurse, believe it or not). I plan to get a Conan's wheel, a Fingal's Finger & a Viking press. Plus build a crossbar for the keg for height & 56. Probably will eventually get a junk pickup for truck dead & wheelbarrow. Maybe a car to flip, too. I'll have plenty of space :yikes . Maybe next year FBBC will sponsor a grip show. Get Big Tony Scrivens to come down & cook (world's best Strongman chef - BBQ & Cheesecakes).

Common single mans curse...you workout, you own a truck, ..What does this make you? A free moving service.

Uncommon single man's nightmare? You know John Beaty and he needs help moving! lol.

John, when you move, (good luck on the house, I hope you get it!) I can only imagine the look on the movers face when they pull up and see your toybox! lol.

We move these things for fun, but moving them from house to house, i can imagine what friends or a moving company would think. lol.

I'm jealous. I just turned my garage into a gym. But badly want a bigger one already and a machine shop to make my own goodies. Oh, and how is the little fella? We've had no updates.

Little Max is quickly becoming not so little. We go next week for his 1 month checkup, I'm expecting 11-12 lbs (gained 1lb 4 oz the first week) . He eats VERY well. Gaining 50% of BWT in 1 month - he's an easier gainer than me....lol.

As to moving- I do it mainly myself. A few of the guys that train here fortunately feel indebted to me, so I can at least scam them into helping. I used to be that single guy with a truck. One summer my roomate (training partner) & I moved 7 people. Made them pay for all food, though, so we won overall.

The worst thing - Moving all the toys for the Snowman Challenge in Jan. Night before - load it all, drive it to the site, unload it (Took 4 trucks & a 5 ton trailer this year). Day of meet - organize it, compete & reset events all day. THEN, load it all up & haul it home to unload.

I can only imagine how whipped promoters are after a contest. I've helped at powerlifting meets and that equipment is much easier to move than strongman equipment.

Glad to hear the good report on your son. My nephew turn 1 on thursday and I will be going out to Cali to see him and my brother in may. I look forward to having my own someday.

cook up some good steaks for your movers, that always worked for me. That or Pizza. The worst was when I moved my dad's boss and his wife didn't have sons and didn't really know how big boys eat. We had salad, soup, and these little finger sandwiches. Luckily the day was salvaged by burritos.
