Either way all five fingertips are pointing down against the baseplate. Quote

And specify that you cannot grab it like a doorknob. So I think side-finger pressure as you demonstrated would be allowed. And then your fingers can shift pretty significantly during the lift. I noticed that I use the same finger position as WR holder Harri Tolonen. Thumb, index and middle essentially doing the lift. Side pressure with the ring finger. Pinky not involved. Per the rules you cannot start in that position, but can obviously shift to that during the lift. 2 Quote
