Eirik Hallert Posted November 26 Posted November 26 Hey! Feel free to move this to another thread if i posted this wrongly. This question goes out to anyone well versed with Saxon deadlifts. I have a question about a 2H saxon deadlift. I only have access to a 80x80mm saxon bar to practice 2 handed deadlifts on, but in comp in february we will be using a standard 80x100mm saxon. Does anyone have any experience with lifting on both measurements? How much less weight can i expect to pull on the real deal? Let's say I manage 90kg (198lbs) on the 80x80mm. How much weight should I expect to drop down? 4kg (8.8lbs), 6kg (13lbs), 10kg (22lbs), or more? If anyone has experience with this, all insights would be much appreciated! 🫡 Thanks Quote
climber511 Posted November 26 Posted November 26 80mm is 3.15" which is slightly bigger than the 3" x 4" we use here in the states so there will be some difference from that when compared to US lifts . Depending on hand size and personal strength positioning that could help or hurt (more likely to hurt I think). But my question is can you "hook" your fingertips over the bottom edge of you 80mm bar (however slightly) - if so your numbers will be significantly different than when you use the 100mm bar and can no longer do that. I've never used a bar that size so I might be way off. Eirik Hallert Posted November 26 Author Posted November 26 (edited) Thanks for the reply! I can hook it if I want to, but I purposely don't, just to avoid that being a factor in comp. And it doesn't really feel that great to have so little thumb to work with. So it's a clean lift with no hooking of the fingers over the edge! 😊 Edited November 26 by Eirik Hallert Quote
