wulfgeat Posted November 17 Posted November 17 (edited) I saw some discussion on coin bending, which is something I hope to do someday, and I thought I would share this video where someone does to coins what we do to rated steel. Maybe, we can use a machine like this to create a realistic list to progress to bending a dime or penny? Edited November 17 by wulfgeat 2 Quote
Jlark27 Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Now that’s an interesting idea. I have never been into coin bending but if we were able to get a rating system going that could help measure progress, I’d be all in. 1 Quote
wulfgeat Posted November 18 Author Posted November 18 The best part to me is this guy is able to press the coins back to their original shape at the end of the video. So we could test, flatten, and attempt the same coin/washer/sheet metal disk. We could also test to failure and see what the average strength is after say 1, 2, 5, 10 and etc. bends and create progressively harder steps that way. So if a penny continues to weaken as we re-bend it, we could pre-bend our pennies to different resistance level steps to work our way up the ladder from the weakest pre-bent coin to an unbent coin. I feel like this could be an interesting hobby to say the least. Quote
Jlark27 Posted November 19 Posted November 19 If only someone had the machine. I wonder what something like that would cost. 1 Quote
wulfgeat Posted November 19 Author Posted November 19 It looks like the gage itself is not cheap: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005LIAKII https://www.tequipment.net/Mark10M5-1000.html And we would still need a test stand. Quote
