Ben Helms
Ive been trying to condition my skin for grippers to prevent my palms from ripping open. Its been an issue for just about every gripper session I've had for the past few months. I highly recommend for people just getting into grippers to start with volume to get your palms conditioned because it will become a constant issue in the future as your gripper closes get stronger. That being said, I have found a wonder way to train around this problem. Once the rip has scabbed over and had a day to get solid, I have started using a leather strip that I got from Eat Chalk Get Big. I place this over my palm rip and im able to train at heavier RGC’s comfortably without having the rip reopen and prolonging the healing time and headache of training with it. I have a few pictures that I wanted to share as an example. I hope this is helpful for everyone with this issue. Start placing that order for Eat Chalk Get Big to train for that bending portion of the Gold & Silver Standard Challenge and benefit with a leather strip that comes with every order too so you can work around that annoying rip! 5

Luke Blackwell
Luckily I've never had my skin rip during training. Even with all my heavy negatives and BTR work, They've done very well. I'm sure that's quite painful though.

Ben Helms
Just now, jchapman said: I might have to try that, thanks! Let that bruise heal before you try it!! The strap works after the rip is scabbed over because it prevents it from reopening. Using the strap now wouldn’t do you any good and may make the injury worse. Just to clarify for you!

I've had them both, bruises and rips. Rips from RRBT and the bruise from some gripper movement, though I'm not sure what. The bruise set me back a lot more than the rip did because even though it wasn't visibly evident, I kept re-exacerbating it. I'll have to try this if I rip again someday.
