Ben Helms Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Would anyone know why the spring on one of my Captains of Crush #4’s has a brass looking tint to it? Im just now noticing that its a strange color? 1 Quote
Slipshod Posted June 22 Posted June 22 If it was second hand it could be due to a lubricant utilised on the spring. Otherwise potentially an artifcating of any heat treatment Quote

Cannon Posted June 23 Posted June 23 How long have you had that one? Does the spring feel like others, not tacky or sticky at all? Quote

Most grippers that have been in the wild for any amount of time will have a darker spring than brand new. Depending on the oil, environment, time, maintenance, “darker spring” takes zillions of different forms. 1 Quote

I clean all my springs at least every two weeks. I can’t stand a loud spring 🤣 2 Quote

I can’t stand a loud spring 🤣 Curious what oil would be recommended. I have an old can of Kroil downstairs but doubt that's good for grippers. Sure helped when loosening 60 year old pipes in my house though. Still took two giant pipe wrenches (and six feet of cheater pipe on one of the handles) but I got it loose without breaking anything when I replaced the sink downstairs. 4 Quote
