wd8dky Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Hello, all. Where does the 300 IP gripper fit in the CoC hierarchy? Or, how many IP would a CoC 2, 3, & 4 be? Any ideas? Thanks, Paul Quote
rbrown Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 someone the other day said the 300 IP was like a 3.5 or 3.6; I've never tried it. Quote
Clay Edgin Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 IMO, the 300IP is like a 3.7-3.9. Rediculously hard. Quote
Sybersnott Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Is this the calibrated IP PDA system? Or honest true IP's? Quote "I have always been strong. I can only imagine what it is like to be weak" - Arthur Saxon "Success cannot be guaranteed. There are no safe battles" - Sir Winston Churchill
OldGuy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 IMO, the 300IP is like a 3.7-3.9. Rediculously hard. This seems to be about right. Someone posted saying that the 300 ip RB gripper has a wire size of .300 Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
bballdad Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 How about other Rb Crusher Grippers how to they compare with the CoC's? 160IP, 210IP, 240IP, 260IP, 300IP and 330IP. Quote
OldGuy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Have not been able to find out the wiresizes for the RB grippers. Mobsterone could get the info from Baraban roberts easily enough but so far he has not bothered to. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Emsquared Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Well I have tried the Rb 260IP and crushed that before I was certified on the COC#3, so I would say that one is a 2.9, will be ordering a 280 or 300 or 330 soon Matt Quote Goals achieved COC #3 certified closed 2003 V-bar lift 300lbs 2003 Blue nail bend 2003 Beef Builder Elite gripper close 2003 205.7 lbs Rolling Thunder 2005 Blob lifted 2005

youngun Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 My chrome spring 330ip RB crusher is about a 3.7. OldGuy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 Old timer on this board is the US dealer. I don't know what he has available or can get. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Rick Browne Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 (edited) From my understanding Dale Harder (oldtimer on the GripBoard) is the designated USA contact for RBs This came from Robert Baraban himself via an email reply that I sent him about 6weeks ago oops did not see ya OldGuy Edited September 17, 2003 by zcor Quote Joined Dec. 2001
OldGuy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 When I contacted him, he did not have many grippers. and did not know about getting anymore. Way way to expensive to get them from the UK by the time the cost in UK money is converted to dollars and so on it's astronomical. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Rick Browne Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 You can go through Baraban. But it is $20 shipping for a single gripper. If you order 2 grippers it will be $20 shipping for the 2.... example: 1 plain spring standard aluminum handle gripper.. $20 + $20 shipping $40 2 plain spring standard aluminum handles $40 + $20 shipping..$60 He has many different models to choose from. The plain spring standard alum handle is the least expensive. Also expect at least 3 weeks minimum turn around time from the day you post your money Quote Joined Dec. 2001
OldGuy Posted September 17, 2003 Posted September 17, 2003 I think I will wait to see what PDA comes out with or contact Tetting. I am more interested in specific wire size than anything else. Only the brass handled grippers are tempting to me! Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
mobsterone Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Try nightflight@uboot.com and ask Rob what the wire sizes are. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
AP Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 the rb 300 isn't "300 ip", you're mixing different brands now. IP is a unit of measuring strength developed by PDA. Robert Baraban doesn't have any conection with pda and i think that his rb 300 is either a) the old pounds system used by ironmind, ie a #3 is 285lbs to close so an rb 300 is 15 lbs heavier. or b) the wiresize, ie .300 Whichever it is, the rb 300 silver spring is about a 3.5-3.8 in difficulty depending on your references. And the brass is gorgeous oldguy! I've hung mine up on my wall! Quote Pastrami on Wry
Tou Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 Maybe I'm wrong but I think there are no .280 IP in RB grippers. Goes from 260 to 300. Quote
mobsterone Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 There is a narrow set 300ip and then a normal width model. RB is supposed to be bring out 80 - 100 - 130 and 180ip models as well v soon. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
Andrzej Posted September 18, 2003 Posted September 18, 2003 bballdad, Last May I receiced email from Robert Baraban. I asked about his grippers between #2 COC and #3COC. Later I tried to rank RB Grippers and Iron Mind Grippers in strength from 195lbs : 1. Iron Mind Gripper No.2 2. 210 lbs RB-Gripper wider handles (available only with wider handles ) 3. 240 lbs RB-Gripper narrower handles 4. 260 lbs RB-Gripper narrower handles 5. 240 lbs RB-Gripper wider handles 6. 260 lbs RB-Gripper wider handles, Iron Mind No.3 And I asked him: Is that a correct ranking ? and he said: "You are absolut correct with your ranking !" The narrower handles are 62 - 70mm wide, the wider handles are 72 - 78 mm wide. Best of Luck to all Gripboard Members, andrzej Quote
