This new gripper is going to surprise those who so far have closed an easier #3. Not that you can choose how difficult your Ironmind 3 is. It is potluck. With a consistent gripper to certify on, cerification will take on a whole new meaning.

Update:

Jeff Petersen sent me the first gripper to do some testing.

Good. When you're finished testing it, go ahead and send it to my house, so I can train with it for three months and be the first on the list. Just kiddin... probably more like two months.

I've used it a couple more times. Definitely a Silver Elite strength gripper. In fact, I don't want to give it up. It's a perfect next goal gripper for me. :)

Here's the short list of testers:

Jeff Petersen

Bill Piche

Heath Sexton

Patrick Povilaitis

Steve Weiner

Rick Walker (sends back to Jeff Petersen)

Total Testers will be 6.

I expect about 1 or 2 to close it. If that occurs, we will want to model this test gripper as the new standard for the title of GripBoard Mash Monster. If all are close (1/4 to 1/2 inch or less) and just Heath closes it but it is not effortless for him, I believe it's a good level.

Heath has probably closed the most sheer number of high level grippers so that's why he's a must for a tester. Both Steve and Pat have also tried a hell of lot of 3's and 4's and other grippers from Bob Bollenbach. Rick is on the list due to what I believe his current crush level is. I represent the lower to average side of the crush level.

It will go out to Heath this Saturday at the latest. I would ask each man to keep it for two days tops before sending on to the next person. Please PM each other to coordinate after testing. Use priority mail if possible for expediting this. It's $3.85 to do this. Please report findings in this thread. Thanks guys.

If we aren't able to come to a conclusion, we'll send it around to a few more guys.

I have a good shot at it.

It seems this is going to be one very elite list (pun intended). Something to shoot for!

Are you able as yet to reveal the wire size of this gripper ?

Not sure. No micrometer on my end.

Jeff?

Jeff?

My guess would be .292. A elite. I think I remember Jeff telling me about that gripper. He said it was a beast like a 3.5.

Bill, based on your 1 or two should close it comment, can we interpret that neither you or Jeff were able to close it?

I couldn't. I wasn't fresh, but who cares and I am not going to blow smoke about it. I am not strong enough, period. My best ever on my silver was about 3/16". It then BLEW UP. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHA! :cry

This way actually may be a touch harder at the close.

I would say a 3.5 is a good ball park figure.

I think you might be able to close it or come close or at min it would be a good goal for you with closing coming with some dedicated crush work. We won't know until you try it.

For me, it will be big time work to get it to where it is a good close for a picture (5 second mash).

That's why I like it so much and want to keep it. The 4 is out of touch for me. It's a good goal for me personally like my silver was before it BLEW UP. WAAAAAAAAAAHAHA! :cry:cry

I have the wire size written at my house as Warren measured it. I believe MR. Van weele is correct, I'll double check. I'm not sure if I can close it. I have a gripper slightly under this strength gripper which I can hold shut, so maybe I can maybe I can't. I do know I'm dying to try it to see if I can do it or not. Hopefully......

Wanna,

Add my name to that list of additional testers if you need to go that route. Thanks.

Gripper goes out today to Heath.

Also, we need ideas on the LOGO for the GripBoard Mash Monster.

Post your ideas in this thread. I am now pinning it too.

My initial idea of Frankenstein... you could do that, or just make up a MONSTER... some big, freaky, powerful hulk (kinda a cross between a mountain man and bigfoot - ah, something like that). Have Mark Collins run with those ideas.... :happy;)

Grinding a gripper to dust?

Perhaps a patriotic theme?

I would think that some how, as part of the logo, not unlike the Grip Page logo, that a huge crushing fist grinding a gripper would look cool. Even if it is associated with some kind of "Monster" theme that Snott suggested.

Got the gripper lastnight. Chalked up and closed it cold, not very easily though. Did a few reps with the T, closed it and tried to grind it. I could slide it back and forth but no clicks. :( To make a long story short I wound up stopping at 7 singles lastnight with it. The last 1/8"is pretty tough it runs up pretty good. I will hang onto it for a few days then send it to Pat.
