Tou
Tennis season is over and my arm feels better. I had pain all summer long in my right arm. When my arm was fully extended, I couldn't crush with full strength. It was hurting like hell. I couldn't even close the #1 with arm full yextended. however, with a bent arm, I was closing the #3 at will. I think it was some kind of tendonitis, which I always have when I play too much tennis (3-4 hours a day this summer). I feared that it could compromise my olympic lifting season which begns next monday up to july 1st. I thought deadlift could be impossible with heavy weights. Well, I C&J 120kg and overhand deadlift over 450 in my first workout. i'm healed and I'm happy. If I didn't write much in the past months, it is because I don't train grip on a regular basis. My focus is on olympic lifting. I have the oppurtunity to be trained by one of the best coach in Canada and he sees great things in me. I play with the grippers from times to times and also do some pinching. That's it for today's report.
MIKE HALEY RILEY CLOE
Tou, I was wondering is the pain near the elbow(a little before) and on the outside?I do not play tennis, but I have a pain like yours, hard time closing grippers extended, but ok with bent arm. I have been trying to get my extensors on par with my crushing grip, I think that is the problem. Sometimes on the release of a hard gripper, I get really sharp pains along the lower arm bones (in the wrist also), this all depends on the speed of the release, faster=more pain. Anyone have any ideas? Or had the same problem? Mike
MIKE HALEY RILEY CLOE
I almost forgot, nice Olympic lifting poundages! Are you sure your arm hurts! Just kidding ! Good luck on the training. Mike
Tou
The pain was not in the elbow. It was on top of the forearm, just under the big muscle. When I release the #4 after a negative, my elbow hurts. Other than this, no problem. When I was beginning with the grippers, I was closing them with extended arm, beside my thighs. Now, it's in front of the body with 90 degree bend in the arm. Feel stronger this way.
MIKE HALEY RILEY CLOE
I feel like (due to the pain) i have been "forced" into closing the grippers with the bend in the arm, but I also feel stronger this way . Mike
Guest wells
Outstanding clean and jerk, for your first day. I'll pray for you that you may have a good season and qualify for the team. Just believe in yourself and focus that energy into every lift. Train hard and good luck with your training.
Roark
wells, Your quote line about are Popeye forearms possible- have you seen Tou's forearms?
Guest wells
I know he is one of the closest's examples I have seen yet. I have seen a picture of an East Bloc athlete (maybe East Germany) circa 1970s with forearms larger in diameter than his upperarms (biceps/triceps) but I never could find the picture again nor did I verify that it was authentic and not doctered up for show...
