Landon
I was doing pin pulls (shin level) on my ME squat/dl day the other day, and I'd always have to use wraps @ 405 or higher. I haven't done any pulling for about 8 weeks, and I got up to 405, and I pulled it easily. Then I went up to 455, and it went up again very easily w/o straps! Then I put on my last max with straps (500lbs) and I pulled it like it was my job. So easy, and my hands were holding on to the bar like vice grips. KTA rocks !! SqeezeMasterFlash
I'll agree with you there Landon. Nice job!
Sybersnott
Landon, Did you do those DL's on a thick bar? If not, try that! BTW, good job on getting the 500#!!
Landon
I have access to 2 different thick bars of different thinknesses. I'll definitely give those a try. I'm gonna shoot for a 550+ deadlift when I max out in a couple of weeks @ 192lbs. (raw too, no gear) Anyways, thanks for the comments guys. This grip training is getting as addictive as my westside training.
Tom Page
It is an awesome feeling getting stronger, especially when it sneaks up on you like that
Jonathan McMillan
Landon, It's only a matter of time and 500 will go up without the straps!! Jon@han
Clay Edgin
Damn, excellent pull considering your bodyweight! I've found that heavy gripper work really helps my deadlift holds. When I pulled 480x2 last week, my grip was solid as a rock on a smoother bar than I usually pull with. And of course, no chalk, straps, or anything else. Again, great job. You should be pulling 550 in no time. One of the things I had to drill into my head was if I was having a great day of deadlifting in the gym and I hit a PR with the weight just flying off the ground, I would try to increase the weight and go for it again. But on days when I couldn't grind out a single with 50lbs under my PR, I'd just do the best I could and not try to go balls-out. I had to learn that I can't always be satisfied with a specific number of sets and reps for an exercise each time I work out. If I'm feeling it, I work that exercise until I drop. Next time the bar flies off the pins, throw another nickel on each side and do it again!
