Festivus Grip Training Get Together

Recommended Posts

I'm having a training get-together on Christmas eve tomorrow. If any of the local Tucson or other AZ folks are interested in joining us let me know and I can give you directions. Starting around 11:30 or noon and all equipment available. I should have an Aluminum pole somewhere around here and there shall be feats of strength ala Festivus, haha. Newbies welcome and I know there will be at least a few so some coaching will be going on. Planning a max effort pinch day for myself but anything you want to work on is fine.

Should be interesting. One of the local gal newbies can actually hook grip on the axle. Never seen that before. Hell I can barely touch thumb tip to middle finger tip if I stretch on there.

I wish I could make it, but too busy with Christmas preparations. I also can't seem to find the folks up here in Phoenix (besides Frank) who expressed interest in grip earlier this year.

I'll try if it get's at all interesting. Haven't pulled on the Euro since the October Comp and been testing training in a different way since then. Will be interesting to see if there is good carryover.

Guys, PLEASE get video. This stuff is what makes up our history. And I love watching it.

I second that!!!

I'll bring some some grippers along with my "baby" blobs.

Here's my long distance contribution:

After this I also decided to try to reverse a Grade 5 bolt just for the hell of it. I actually was able to bend it, so I was pretty thrilled with that. Wish I had got it on video.

Way to go Martin that bolt looked easy for you!

Wasn't feeling terribly strong today. Grippers were weak at the start of the session and it was a sign. Took awhile before I could even 1hp 2x 45's. Only vid we got of a not failed lift of mine I think was this 266# Saxon pinch DL.

266# on Saxon is still pretty badass in my book.

What's the most lifted on a Saxon bar? This has gotta be one of the heaviest lifts IMO. Is that a 3 inch or some other variation?

They were using 225# at the Mighty Mitts!
