A Separation Of Feats And Stats?

I think more than anything, the Blob Cycle poll showed that the Gripboard itself is somewhat evenly divided about the actual purpose of the Records and Stats section.

I don't believe that the response to the poll had much to do with the blob cycle itself...much more so, it was about the section itself.

Whatever it's original intent was...this is how it currently reads...

"Community Records and Stats

Data documenting for active users who, what, and how much"

Since this is a community and there was decidedly no consensus on this poll, I propose we do as Wojo mentioned and make an Elite Feat list. Basically we add the blob cycle to the stat list...but we pull the "elite feats" to a separate thread.

This way, the Elite Feats List is it's own entity, where only the cream of the crop would reside. 2x45pinch, INCH, Full
Blob lifts and cycle, rated grippers of 150 and above, block weights/IDL's of 50lbs+ etc etc etc. Actual Elite Gripboard members have been around the longest, and should be consulted what would be included on the "Elite Feat List". And...as Chis mentioned, it's absolutely O.K. for people to work for years and not be included...as this list is basically a "highlights reel"...your average dunk or touchdown would not be included.

As far the "Stat" list goes...it can be viewed as a ladder. While it'll take some time to set up...at this point I feel that a great deal of names can be stricken from the list as redundant. The purpose of a ladder is to move up. If you IDL a 60hex or close a #150, your lower closes and lifts can be removed...much like the GHP list (note...Tommy is still on it twice for some reason lol). Sure, it'll take a time to rework the stat list...but I think we will have a more streamlined, cleaner list. The purpose of this list...would be to celebrate progress, and follow along those like yourself who are working towards the "Elite Feat List." Heck...we have enough "race yah to this feat" threads around...so it's obvious we enjoy a friendly competition.

Anyway...this idea isn't an attempt to make more work...it's an attempt to correct something that's obviously been bothering about half of the Gripboard to begin with. While I have pushed for inclusion...I do understand the desire to work towards an elite goal. Thoughts?

Do I understand that you are volunteering to run the new branch of lists?

Because right now, there are 2 people doing all the updates on the current lists, with an additional helping out occasionally. This is a decent amount of work, and help in getting it all done, would be much appreciated.

I think there is a fair amount of people here that would be happy to help out in running the forum if they knew there was a need. Myself included.

While I might be too new around here to have a meaningful opinion,

and while I have too weak of a grip to make a difference...

I must say,

just the sound of "The Elite Feats List" resonates with me on a visceral level.

Would it be easiest to divide the lists up by implement? Inch, hub, blob/block, gripper, etc?

2014 NAGS 93kg Champion      2018 NAGS 93kg and Overall Champion

Sledge Choke WR        Pickaxe WR        Pinch Block Curl WR       FBBC 2.5 Jug WR

FORMER- Ironmind: Red Nail Roster, Crushed to Dust         Mash Monster: MM0, MM1

Than, try not to make these lists composed primarily of "inch deadlift +another implement" not everyone has one to train with and would really limit the contenders.

Parris, at the moment I have no idea in what capacity I will be asked to help out with, whether ideas or data entry, whatnot. If the separation flies, I think we can safely assume that anything involving the INCH would be an elite feat.

As far at the composition of the lists, I would assume that would be left up to the higher ups. Everyone here on the board and in the IGC has been really accessible and willing to listen to ideas/thoughts we come up with.
