David Mitti
Slightly wider than parallel set.. Been adding grippers after my pinch work the last couple of weeks. I usually get to this level of strength with the grippers then stop using them after failing to manage a close the next session with this same gripper. This time around I'm going to focus on building a more solid strength and not test my max so often. Thanks for watching.. JoshW
Strong close at the end! I found I made the least amount of progress testing my max all the time, stick to it and you will get onto bigger grippers very soon!

Fist of Fury
Nice close! Strong close at the end! Same here, heavy singles has never really worked for me, negatives has worked better. I've found that 80-85% of 1RM is the best for me. Doing more sets with fewer reps.

David Mitti
Thanks guys! I noticed for me when I got a couple sets with 5-6 closes with my #2 the #2.5 was doable for a couple singles. I figure if I work the #2 until I reach 10 solid reps at any given session I believe rep work will be started with the #2.5 So the plan is to work towards 5-6 reps with the #2.5 and at that point try out my #3 thats rated at 143#. I believe it will be closed at that point. Edited September 17, 2015 by David Mitti
felixthecat
Nice close! I myself am working on closing the 2.5. I'm just about 1 mm from closing it, do you have any tips you would like to share?

I'm just about 1 mm from closing it, do you have any tips you would like to share? I'm definitely not the go to guy for grippers but I will give you a couple things that could be an issue. 1) Is your gripper set up correct? < This can really make a should be closed gripper stop short especially on a near max gripper.?.?. 2) How solid are you with closing your #2 gripper? < Are you managing solid reps with it every time you pick it up??-At least 5 reps or so?? Hope this helps. The biggest hurdle for me is to just stay consistent with the training.. Oh yeah, build up that thumb pad a bit, it helps keep that gripper grounded.. Yeah, I can manage 5 reps with the #2, and about 2 reps with the GHP #5. It's possible my gripper set up isn't perfect which could affect the close.
