Jedd Johnson
Post your footage from the 2015 Arnold Sports Festival here! Here's Luke and me going through the Con-Crete Challenge. The first challenge was lifting IronMind hubs attached to Slater Stones, 45 and 70 pounds. I believe 1 single person all weekend got the 70 up. A piano player who doesn't lift. CRAZY! I watched back-up center from the Green Bay Packers, Joe Madsen, struggle with the 45. I showed a couple quick technical modifications and he lifted it easily to lockout, held it there, played to the crowd, and then it slipped out of his hand and broke into two big chunks. It was hilarious. Really nice meeting Joe Madsen. He was a riot. The second challenge was a Fat Gripz Extreme on a 1" loading pin, 30 or 40lbs on it maybe, and then rowed for max repetitions. Pretty sure my mark of 67/68 reps stood the test of time at the Arnold. More to come! Feel free to post your footage here below as well.
1stCoC
Those folks were nice in the Concrete booth. Stopped by to say hello. That 70 lb. Hub felt quite daunting.
Jedd Johnson
Here's the other challenge from the Promera booth, a 135-lb Hold for Time with Fat Gripz Extremes. I think the judging could have been a bit better managed, but oh well, it's just a challenge at a booth. I ended up dropping the bar due to some crazy burning pain I had in my thumb, I think perhaps a compressed nerve. Never felt anything like it before. I was goosenecked hard, so I am sure that had a great deal to do with it.
king crusher
Expo challenges are fun. I won one at the Olympia which involved push-ups and jumping jack combos. And I came in third place at met rx punching machine.
Jedd Johnson
I wanted to do those other challenges too, but didn't want to wait in the lines.
1stCoC
How long did you hold the fat grip bar? Was it an overhand or underhand hold?
Gary Kessler
I am not a strong grip guy but I did the Fat Gripz extremes Overhand hold for 1 minute 17 seconds. At the time I believe the record for the day was 1 minute 26 seconds. Edited March 12, 2015 by Gary Kessler
Jedd Johnson
Yeah, that challenge was unfortunately kind of iffy. I don't know how strict they were with you, but when several people did it, they had the bar sitting right on top of their legs, deloading it quite a bit. I also watched the one guy have part of his hand on the FGX and the other part on the barbell. I think it depended a lot on who was judging. Oh well, people had fun, that's all that matters. Gary Kessler
You are right Jedd; they were not strict and some people were taking the easy route. I was very strict bending forward with no touching on my legs and a complete wrap around the fat gripz with thumb over. This chalenge was a lot harder than I expected.
