Jones1874 Posted January 15, 2015 Author Posted January 15, 2015 (edited) thanks for the speedy reply! just remembered that i already have a GHP6. its still in its packet because its a pretty tough gripper for me right now. so a WT Grand master and a #3 should cut it? Are your grippers rated? No. i did want to get them done soon. im sure this #2.5 is a beast... cant shut it when its choked a bit wider than parallel! Jared Goguen Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 You might want to get them rated so you have an idea as to where your at. Here's mine. GHP6 133 CoC3 139 GM 147 I know my CoC3 is super light but you never know what is going to show up unless you are buying pre-rated grippers. 1 Quote My YouTube channel - grip, and shop projects.

Jüri Sankman Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 (edited) Hey, GHP 6 is way to go for bridging. Im trying to bridge this gap as you. Right now I have GHP6 #134, and soon will arrive RB240 #140. Think mines a brick Aswell lads. Do ou think its worth picking up another one? Get your grippers rated. Maybe you dont need another #2.5 (if it is 5-8 lb heavier than your SM). Edited January 16, 2015 by Fixy Quote
Royz Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hi, My #2.5 I guesstimate at 125. My ghp6 is 134. My GM is 148 and I've got a RB240 which I guesstimate at 140. Quote

Jones1874 Posted January 16, 2015 Author Posted January 16, 2015 Thanks for the reply lads. ill get in one more gripper session before i ship them to Cannon. so ill post them next Wednesday sometime. Ive wanted to get them rated for awhile now but i thought it would be expensive. even though im from the UK to the US the price is more than fair. Quote (YouTube channel coming soon!) Justin Matney Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 As others have said, GHP6 is the way to go. RB240 is really nice as well. What really helped me when I was working toward the #3 from #2 was taking the #2.5 (which I also couldn't shut at first) and forcing it the rest of the way closed with my other hand and holding it for a few seconds. I swear within a few weeks I was no setting my 2.5 with relative ease, and closing my #3 with a parallel set or a bit wider. My mistake was trying to do negatives on a CoC 3.5 when I couldn't even shut a #3. 1 Quote

Geralt Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 Don't think about stepping up the next gripper immediatly after you have closed your goal gripper, in this case the 2.5. Focus on mastering it in every set, than your basestrength will be also stronger and you can step up. Not saying you should never attempt bigger grippers, but it's just an experience I'd like to share. That said, indeed having rated grippers is better for knowing where you are. I remember I felt my first #3 was a beast. It was not, I was just not strong enough. If you can't close your 2.5 from choker, work more with a lower Gripper. Do blocksets, overcrushes, etc. Good luck! 4 Quote Started training June 2008 MM level 1 Ghp7 GSS certified Some videos.... http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_y-TPakQE6zfc18qWgZW7Q
riccardomagni Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I am relatively new at grippers and highly recommend getting them rated. I could tell which grippers were harder than others, but it is hard to tell how much harder unless they are rated. Quote
