PeterSweden Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Anyone here who has tried training different pinch exercises using tacky? That will give time under tension with a set width and weight only without the slipping factor. Im thinking about trying this on blockweights for a couple of months to see if it helps on my goal blob. 1 Quote Grip goals for 2016 - we'll see how many of these I can cross off; Grippers; Cert GHP7, CCS 140, 146, 153 and 157lbs CoC3, MMS and 20mmBS 180lbs CoC3,5. Pinch; Clean 20kg blockweight, curl 20kg blockweight, 1h euro pinch 45kg.
PeterSweden Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Maybe first apply it to the fingers and over time use less and less til you dont need it? 1 Quote Grip goals for 2016 - we'll see how many of these I can cross off; Grippers; Cert GHP7, CCS 140, 146, 153 and 157lbs CoC3, MMS and 20mmBS 180lbs CoC3,5. Autolupus Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) This approach will mimic the deload progression but from a decreasing friction coefficient, I would expect the results to be the same. Will be interested to see your findings. Edited January 9, 2015 by Autolupus 1 Quote Mike Mackenzie. Luceo non uro.

Will be interested to see your findings. I just ordered tacky and my goal blockweight will ship 23 this month. I must think it over some. I dont know how much work I should do on the side, with blobs and chalk. Mix both in the same session or every other session, or go by feel. PeterSweden Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I will have one side for magnesium use and one for tacky. This way maybe I wont have to wash it every time I've used it? Depends on how much tacky sticks to the block and or if it dries on the block after each session. I've never used tacky before so I dont know. Im going to do explosive pulls and holds on my goalie using less and less tacky each session. Should I mix this with ISOs, holds and reps with other blockweights too, or will that take away from the "scientific" experimental part of this? ultimatemk309 Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I've recently been working on my OHP a lot lately. I've been looking for some different training methods. Let me know how it works out Quote
rico300zx Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Dude thats going to be a big freakin mess. just do drags up a board Quote Dare to compare? Billy Jack Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 (edited) I have never tried this. But, as Paris stated, I am afraid it may turn into a big mess if I tried it. If you have a good bit of time for clean-up, application, etc then it may be worth it. I don't have alot of time, so it is more precious to me at this point. I do see where it would work as a deload mechanism. Just an FYI, I do own an FBBC "Chunk". This is a blob simulator that you can adjust to different widths and angles so you can work a certain width at any given poundage. You can have the width difficulty of a 50# blob but work your way up from whatever poundage to your goal. It may be something you also want to try out if blockweights are your current goal. I am not sure if Andrew is still going to carry this product in the future or not. It is a good tool if you can't afford to buy every size blob ever made. Funny thing is, I ended up buying them all after a couple of years anyway. Part of the sickness I guess. Good luck either way. I make time for my hobbies. If cleaning will take alittle more time I can easily skip some computer time or time usually wasted in other ways. 1 Quote Grip goals for 2016 - we'll see how many of these I can cross off; Grippers; Cert GHP7, CCS 140, 146, 153 and 157lbs CoC3, MMS and 20mmBS 180lbs CoC3,5. Billy Jack Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 With two young children, hobbies get pushed to the side. Making time is more difficult, unless you can train at 4:00 am or midnight and can function on 4 hours sleep and still have beneficial training sessions. If I get two hours a week for a hobby I feel grateful. 2 Quote “You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.” Edwin Louise Cole

jvance Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Dude thats going to be a big freakin mess. just do drags up a board I second this, that or drag along the floor for distance... If you can pull it 30-40 feet continuously doing laps, then you should be strong enough to lift. You'll be surprised how quickly you can progress from barely getting one lap across a room to pulling it 10+ times back and forth. One of my fave pinch drills. 3 Quote Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/JVance0001?feature=mhee

One of mine is only a few months so that is the hardest issue right now. I also commute to work two hours total each day, so that kills me as well. I just look to the future and think about how strong I can possibly get considering what I have been able to accomplish with my current schedule. 1 Quote “You don't drown by falling in the water; you drown by staying there.” Edwin Louise Cole

PeterSweden Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 If you do try the tacky route a brief on the whole experience will be appreciated. I tried it yesterday. Got a little jar of tacky in the mail. I got air under my 30kg blockweight and floated it, a block no one in Finland has gotten up off the floor. Not even Harju. Tacky really stuck your hand to the weight. It was too sticky to use like I wanted to. The naysayers were right, its a bad idea. I had to wash my hands like 6-7 times with different detergents before I finally got my hands stickyfree Im going to clean up the blockweight some day too, Im guessing it will be a chore. Floordrags and boardslides are next up. 3 Quote Grip goals for 2016 - we'll see how many of these I can cross off; Grippers; Cert GHP7, CCS 140, 146, 153 and 157lbs CoC3, MMS and 20mmBS 180lbs CoC3,5. Floordrags and boardslides are next up. Maybe you could also experiment with dragging on different surfaces with different levels of friction? I've been training to pinch five loose 10s and have been curious about doing it that way, but my thumb is currently out of commission due to a swift kick to the joint. 1 Quote
