David_wigren Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Neat idea! Might be pretty good during light days getting some blood into the thumbs and hands without destroying them. Quote

Exactly, this does just that. It hits the thumbs in way pinching or any other thumb exercise just cannot. The swinging motion provides excellent stimulation to the connective tissue in the thumb pads. Quote Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/JVance0001?feature=mhee
Mikael Siversson Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Personally I have found that my thumbs respond best to 1HP with the Euro at the widest setting and hardly any other thumb work at all (apart from closing easy grippers with a pinch grip). I never depart from this approach and train the same way year in and year out. Without any previous specific training I pinched 4x10k first try. I also pulled the 50blob first try. This approach is seemingly at the other extreme of what you are doing Jon (lot's of variation). The way I see it is that I would simply dilute the effect (eg compromising recovery) by including other pinch exercises that, in isolation, would not work as well as the Euro set up for all round thumb strength. The cross-over effect from the Euro at 64mm to eg wide plate pinching is in my case obviously excellent. Anyway always good to discuss different approaches. Quote
