speedy Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Any lube their springs? I do for I can't squeeze my grippers in silence without it; they squeaking too much. I have read and been told it makes them easier to close but I don't feel any difference. The only difference I found is that it gets rid of the squeak. I also notice those that I got from Cannon seemed to already have residue of some sort of lubricant and they didn't squeak at all out of the package. So clearly I am not the only one. Thoughts/input on this? Quote I will be here on and off; if you really need to reach me you can find me on rosstraining.com/forum under the same handle: speedy
Jared Goguen Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I use the same lube I do on my guns, Froglube. If the springs are dry they squeak, and can rust. Also I think a dry spring rubbing on it self would do more damage and weaken the spring more over time then a bit of lube ever would. Quote My YouTube channel - grip, and shop projects.

speedy Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Yeah that is good stuff. Forgot what I recently bought it for but it works nice. There is a gun lubricant that someone at Hoffman's (the wholesale place for guns) recommended to me. I can't remember the name of it but it works really good for guns that is. Never crossed my mind to use it on the springs of the grippers but it does make sense. Anthony C. Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 On a side note, cannon lubricates the springs for you during the rating process. Very cool service from him Quote
Geralt Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I use WD40 now and than. Brushing the handles with a toothbrush really makes the knurling come back a bit. Little bit of WD40 on the spring and dirt just leaks out of the coiled part. Taking it off with some tissues and the gripper look quite nice again. Don't know if they get ' easier' . I think that's just the psychological part because of the less squeeky action. I'm using toothbrushes too, Geralt. I've been suspecting that I wasn't the only one doing that, haha. 1 Quote My YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjZv60koTJBhIB_FqhsN2gw "Save us, O Lord, from the wrath of the Norsemen."

Jared Goguen Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 WD40 is not a lube Yup. Water Displacement, 40th formula. Get's sticky with time. Quote My YouTube channel - grip, and shop projects.
acorn Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 WD40 not a lube. Will attract dirt as well. 1 Quote ** Retired **
Anton.Torrella Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 WD-40s a light weight lubricant that loosens and disperses dirt rather than attracting it. I use it frequently and never experienced it getting sticky or tacky, except perhaps from the residue that its dispersing. Its an ok choice for lubricating the gripper spring but 3-in-1 oil or spray silicone are going to last longer and are better suited. Thats my experience atleast. Quote
king crusher Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 I think I did that once. About 8 years ago. Meh 1 Quote
Geralt Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 (edited) I'm using toothbrushes too, Geralt. I've been suspecting that I wasn't the only one doing that, haha. Nope, you're not. I'm using the same brush as for my toothbrushing of course, and I brush my teeth with chalk. Serious, I never said I use the WD40 as a lube. I just use it to clean my grippers. I also use it to clean the chain of my bike now and than. Because however of the cleaning, everything runs much smoother so that's the lubricating feeling I guess. It's miracle stuff. Got rid of some squeeky doors in my house with it recently. Endless possibilities. EJ Livesey Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Tuf-glide hands down best liquid lube. I've used it on grippers and I use it on my Michrotech every three weeks. mt-tom Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I keep all my grippers oiled. I use the same lube I use on my guns because it is handy. Quote
filipvk Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 I don't have guns,I just have grippers and I oiled them up 2 days ago after maybe 6-7 years and I think I will do it more often now when I train again with. Quote
Cannon Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 3 in 1 oil is really good. This is what CPW uses. We also go through a LOT of toothbrushes. 1 Quote
