Strongmanpharmd
Do you guys have a warmup that you go through before working up on whatever implement you're training that day? Just curious.
Stephen Ruby
I generally do grip training along with my lifting so I'm pretty warmed up from whatever lift I'm doing going into grip. I do some light dynamic stretching before my lifting just to loosen up a bit. A little lifting before you do grip though does help to fire the CNS to lift more then going in cold thats for sure.
Strongmanpharmd
Well like today I did double overhand axle dl proceeding my axle clean and press sets...I was real warmed up for the clean and press after all the grip work. I could try it in reverse next time.
jvance
I would reverse that. I follow the Chris James protocol of light and fast to heavy and slow... Axle days start w/ snatches to cleans to DLs and then perhaps holds and overloads
PeterSweden
I try to train grip after legs. Squatting gets your CSN going, blod flowing and getting you on fire, while not taxing your grip. I somtimes bench before grip but its not optimal since you grasp the bar hard. Then I just do reps, increasing the weight for a few sets om whatever gripexersice Im going for. Then I rock'n'roll! barbe705
i train grip separately from gym lifts out of necessity. I do some higher rep band work for tris, bis, and shoulders. helps get the blood moving and warms up the elbows. I hit a lot of grippers starting with lighter ones for sets of 10 and working up while lowering the reps. I also do some finger walks with a sledge and pace around in between all of this. recently I've been jumping rope. I try to get that in before grip just to make sure it doesn't get skipped as much as anything.
robertmiller67
Good question bud. I generally do KB swings, light grippers & sledgehammer finger walks to get warmed up before any heavy sets.. wakes the CNS up imo!
Juha Harju
I clap one time my hands together before I start my grip training. (Stupid joke.) ☺
beef_supreme
Grippers wear me out fast so if I'm trying to go for a PR I just do a high-rep set with a store-bought gripper and then maybe a couple of singles with a light COC gripper before going at it hard. Otherwise I work up to the target gripper in small increments. For blobs and pinch work I have to warm up to get anything going (by my standards of course).
