PeterSweden
I saw a video of Magnus Midtboe doing 1finger pullups the other day and when me and my friend were at the playground with my kids we tried to hang from different combinations of fingers. I could hang from my index/long fingers, ring and longfinger but not from my littlefingers and pinkies. We tried hanging with both hands having eachother on the back for extra weight. Hangs for time. I also tried hanging from my fingertips which was harder than I thought but manageable. Anyone train grip this way? I wonder how this kind of training compares to DO deadlifting, deadlifting with different finger combinations. I want to do 200kg DO deadlift on a regular bar one day soon. JoshW
When I trained for my one handed deadlifts I used to do dead hangs on a pull up bar with my bodyweight +40kg dumbbell between my knees for times this really helped with support grip strength!
PeterSweden
I think I will put grippers down for the rest of the year and continue to focus on RT/axle, euro pinch and go for DO deadlifts instead of grippers. Grippers can wait

hellswindstaff
Done it... I can chin with any combinations of fingers, assuming that there is at least one finger from each hand on the bar

How did you train for it when you did? Has it any carry over to grippers or deadlift grip? Or anything else for that matter

Has it any carry over to grippers or deadlift grip? Or anything else for that matter I think that it doesn't really involve extremely strong fingers, in the sense of contraction powers, but what I do believe that it requires is very tough fingers with a high bone and sinew density. I have experience in striking martial arts and have a decent amount of conditioning to my hands... I have taken fingertip pushups pretty far and I think that is more or less the reason because I was able to perform the feat with almost no direct training. Ivarboneless
Finger strength like that doesn't transfer to much of anything. It is a good strength to have, but it will only transfer to hanging by your fingers (a legitimate grip discipline). Your grippers, axle, etc. won't see much increase. Your hub, and one finger lifting might benefit, but that's about it.

Ivarboneless
It won't help there either. The support grip of deadlifting is a closed hand movement, and finger hanging is more of an open hand exercise. It really doesn't transfer to much else. slazbob
Herman Goerner did thick bar and deads with his fingers... Had a big crush on a dyno. I believe... Have to check my book about him for the numbers.
