EricMilfeld
Nice lift, Mike! It's not only my weakest lift, it's one of my favorites. I always feel like I've done something impressive, even if the weight isn't.
Mike Sharkey
That's how you get strong there brother Yeah man! I intend to push this up. Nice lift, Mike! It's not only my weakest lift, it's one of my favorites. I always feel like I've done something impressive, even if the weight isn't. Thanks for checking it out Eric. I really like incorporating speed into lifts. I trained Kettlebell Sport for quite a while. Cleaning is my favorite. The jerk is kinda an afterthought. jvance
Speed is key dude, I believe the more you activate your whole body behind your grip, the more strength stimulation you receive down the line. I don't think it's any accident that Durniat and Chris James are the most dominant support grip athletes in the world because their training logs reflect a commitment to whole body activation with grip training. A lot of guys are missing the boat on this, but it looks like you already understand these principles. Strong work - I believe in time you will be among the best at your BW if you continue training training smart and healthy.

I don't know about that lol, but I just keep making little progress. I enjoy it. Grip suits me because I do well with a lot of rest in between work, so having a lot of different implements to play with keeps me focused and moving forward. Still along way to go to being respectable though!
robertmiller67
Awesome work Mike! I too do a lot of explosive grip work & KB work! I totally agree with jvance reference to the whole body activation improving your grip... keep it up my friend!
Mike Sharkey
Thanks for checking it out Robert. I narrowly missed 100# the other day, so hopefully I will have a video of that soon.

Mike Sharkey
Looked too easy for you! That's what everyone said lol, however, I failed at this weight a bunch of times before I got it, and a second rep was out of the question. Higher than this, my grip is starting to become an issue on the clean. I jerked 100# no problem though.
JHenze646
Higher than this, my grip is starting to become an issue on the clean. What is your best deadlift with this handle? How do you lose the lift, does your wrist lose position or does it pull out of your fingers?
Mike Sharkey
I actually haven't tried to max DL on the DB's yet. My best axle is 255, so not great. It pulls out of my fingers.
jvance
Mike, next time you pull axle, try to consciously curl your wrists and maintain your fingers in a cupping position under the bar. Kody also gave me the helpful tip to start wrapping your hands from the outer pinkies on inward. Doing thumbless training and finger curls will also add significant poundage. All of these things together contributed to about a 50-60# gain in a year.

You do thumbless on the axle or Oly or both?
robertmiller67
Awesome work Mike! These are really fun lifts... I'm very close to a #135 baby inch clean now myself! Flipping it over & getting underneath it is the hardest thing!!

For thumbless, both work pretty well.

You have 100 in the bag thanks. i really like this movement. lot of different things going on. its funny though, squatting has made my jerk feel weird. its setting me back on my heels.
