Billy Jack
Have browsed through the old Cyberpump galleries several times in the past and always catch myself looking more closely at pics of Scott Clayton and his great pinching. Does anyone here know what ever happened to Scott and if he still dabbles in grip at all anymore. The guy seemed to be a natural, elite pincher. Didn't he once pinch just over 130lbs using 2-45's for one-hand pinch? Anyone ever know this guy personally and have any news on him? austinslater
I used to talk with him way back about training. Great guy. He trained his pinch a little different then how the current guys seem to do it by mainly doing long holds on 1HP work, like working up to 30-60 secs per hold. Not sure if this is how he always trained but he always recomended it. I know Heath was able to train with him a few times as well and probably has much better insight into where he is and if he is still training or not. lifesnotfair
A quick search does confirm that Heath said this: Posted 13 July 2011 - 12:32 AM Craziest I've seen in person was Scott Clayton one hand pinch grip 132lbs on a pair of 45's with a bar through the middle. I thought I read that somewhere but could not remember if it was here or another board. The pics of him doing 2-45's w/two fingers and the 3-25's seem so easy to him. No strain whatsover that I can see. Hard to understand how good this guy could have been if he was still training at the same level. Is he or was he ever a member here? Anyone know? Bearcat 74
Haven't spoken to Scott in a long time, probably since 2003. He was very very strong and a great guy. His pinch was far and away the best I have ever seen, he was very good on what little thickbar training he did and was solid on grippers with no real specific work. He did a lot of things casually, like I think I'll try to pinch 45's with 2 fingers with no specific training. He did long holds in his pinch training. I had never seen anyone pinch 2 45's in person and right after we met he rolled 2 slick 45's out onto the floor of the weightroom, took a paper towel and wiped them off, slapped them together and snapped the up off the ground with ease. I said "you ever use chalk?" He had not, after giving him some chalk that's when the weight really started flying around.

lifesnotfair
Also Heslep lift 2-45's for one-hand pinch - using 2 fingers. He did use chalk, though :P But I think I see some chalk in Scott's pic as well. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-s3tJC_WiF_A/UP8V9RpO8iI/AAAAAAAAN_A/0lXDkElXPFo/s1600/Tommy%2BHeslep%2B2_finger_pinch_45.jpg Tremendous pinch by these gentlemen, no doubt. Bearcat 74
Scott was chalked up in those pics, it was early on when I met him that he had not used it. He was doing solid longish holds with 45's chalkless in an upstairs nonairconditoned weightroom that was about 100 degrees that made you sweat like 3Crusher in a Graeter's Ice Cream Shop just walking in the joint.
