What Would You Say Is A Strong One Hand Clean?

Been trying to do one hand cleans lately with a 3.25" handle dumbell, managed to rep a 25kg one hand clean with this fat handle..mostly using my wrist power it feels and can get the 30kg dumbbell half way.

My question is, what would be an reasonable level and weight for this kind of feat? I have seen chris james clean a 50kg dumbbell with a 3.25" handle, not going to compare myself to him though as his thickbar lifts are off the scale!

How many 3.25" handles are there out there? It's a weird size that I never heard of - so answering your question is fairly impossible.

Here is a video of what I mean - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFc7x78x_hk

The dumbells I use are thick around the middle of the handle, think it is a hammer strength bell, but I use fat gripz extreme and it makes the handle even harder to use

That looked strong but It's something almost no one else has - no way to compare it to anything.

Just thought it might be worth a try to see if anyone else has tried cleans with this

Guess I will have to work up to 50kg as that is the only comparison I can make so far, cheers though!

I've cleaned 105 on a 2.75 inch dumbell... My short term goal is to snatch 100 with it. I'm not Chris James but I've got nothing but time.

How about with a standard barbell that's more measurable almost everyone has one

To end all discussion and speculation: a strong clean on the dumbbell you have used with the fat gripz you have used is any weight heavier than you have previously lifted.

You're welcome.

Hard to follow that... Thanks for nothing;)

Josh, After giving it some thought. If you can do half your body weight with a fat handle then you are doing great. Anything over 50% body weight is a plus. Setting and reaching Goals is what it is all about.

I have 2 solid 3.25inch dumbbells that weigh 39kg and 53kg I can clean the 39kg one with both hands but can only deadlift the 53kg one. The Baby inch dumbbell is good to clean, I have also cleaned that with both hands.

Damn sick lifting dave as usual

As far as the axle question I saw dario did 200lbs a long time ago one hand clean on the axle. I think he weighs mid 200 generally.
