truth1ness
I've seen loadable hubs offered from Ironmind, Sorinex, and Rogue. I'm curious if anyone has tried more than one of these hub offerings (or other brands not mentioned) and can tell me how their surface texture (in terms of "grippiness") and dimensions (depth of finger area and width) compare. Mike Sharkey
I have the IM Hub & the Sorinex Hub. Totally different animal. IM Hub is much wider, maybe like 3" where the Sorinex is like 2" but a little bit deeper. I can't get all my fingers on the Sorinex. The Sorinex Hub has a slightly rougher texture and holds chalk pretty well, where the IM is smooth. Both are lovely, and I like having the variety. However, the IM is the one that is being contested & compared.
Hubgeezer
I have a Fat Bastard Barbell Company's "Hub Lifter". It is about as wide as the IronMind, maybe even deeper, with in theory a texture that is grip friendly. Always been 15-20% less than on the IM one for me.

Interesting that you are lifting 15-20% less on the FBBC (assuming that's what the percentage is referring to) if the FBBC is both more textured and deeper than the IM, I would expect you would be lifting higher weight on the FBBC. Any idea why that is? Do you simply not train as much on the FBBC compared to the IM?

I'm leaning towards the one with the rougher surface (ie the sorinex) since I could probably progress more consistently on that and then get the ironmind down the line since it seems like you need a bit more finesse with the chalk application with the smoother hubs. Mike Sharkey
If I had to choose it would be the IM Hub definitely. Though I do like the Sorinex Hub, its shape is a little bit awkward.
Hubgeezer
I have no idea. It may be that the IM Hub is just better suited for my fingers. Likewise, I cannot figure out why I lift more on the "old" IM Hub than the new one, when everyone else likes the new one better. Never tried the Sorinex hub. Seems like one should use the one that they can lift the most on to train the fingers/hand to handle heavier weights. I probably ought to get a Sorinex hub myself to experience it. Metacarpal
Does anyone know the dimensions of David Horne's GripTopz shallow hub? I'm interested in knowing if my shallow 35lb plates are comparable. For those of you who have both an Ironmind hub and a Griptopz hub how big is the discrepancy in numbers you're pulling?
