truth1ness
What are you guys using for narrow pinch training? I'm looking to get a set of pinch blocks but it seems like most start at 2" with the occassional 1.5" but nothing below that. Do you all just make your own? The only purchasable product I know of is David Horne's penny grip top but I'm looking for more of a traditional block shape so I can train a variety of hand positions (key/side pinch, fingers straight, 1 or 2 hand, etc). So far I've checked out Sorinex, Ironmind, Strongergrip, and Rogue, are there any others I've missed?
monstagripp
Why don't you use plates?? I use 2 of my 5kg plates for narrow pinch and can go as wide as I want.
truth1ness
All my plates have a lip on both sides unfortunately. I figured a set of pinch blocks would be cheaper and more flexible than buying a whole series of additional plates.

I would sell the plates you have and buy the ones with a flat side, I just sold my pinch blocks as I hardly used them, They feel easier the loose plates and don't build as much hand strength as plates do. You could make some out of wood for next to nothing 2 x 6 inch (Roof beams) and just put a hook through it and your ready to go.
Cannon
Yep, wood pinch blocks. Make your own. Easy peasy. I really liked 2-1/4 to 2-1/2" width. If I just nipped off some thickness on two 2x4s screwed together, that was perfect. Wood holds chalk decent too and I've never had a thumb tear on a wooden pinch block.
slazbob
Yes on the wood. You can have any width you like. I have one with 3 2x4's nailed together and I have a small one about the size of a GHP block, but it's a 1/4" thick. I use that for single finger pinch's it's great for the pinkie.
climber511
If you have a Euro you can go down to about 1/2" and many sizes above that. I have 1/4" and 3/8" thin pinch blocks I made from steel plate - pretty easy to do, just drill a hole in the plate big enough to hold the carabiner to the loading pin.
truth1ness
Cool, thanks. I'll go with the wood. I have a bunch of plywood lying around I can glue together at various widths. Getting back to the narrow pinch topic, do you guys train much pinch below 1/2in? Like a piece of sheet metal or something? It seems like side pinch grip (key pinch) would be the more natural way to grasp stuff in this range, so what objects do you guys use for training side/key pinch?
