How about a 1 hand pinch of 3 45s?

Anyone ever done that?

Sweet! I like how you started going down...then lifted right back up. Makes me think you could do reps. :)

Thanks again fellas!!

-Nate, Thanks for noticing that bro... Bob said hold it so I locked it back out & held! I've got a great trainer in Bob... he's really boost my confidence & encourages me to lift progressively heavy weight when I don't think I can!!

No, No one has ever or will ever do 3 x 45s in one hand. No one has even done 2 x 25kg plates. Juha or Kody will hopefully do it soon.

I disagree with the second half of that. It'll happen...just a matter of time. Gripsport is still in it's infancy. Half of the problem resides in there being no real reason to train one handed at that width. However...as a dedicated goal, it's pretty likely in the realm of human achievement.

Would there be an equivalent in closing grippers to pinching 3 45s with one hand?

Ask some of the elite pincher's and see what they have to say? Chad woodall is one of the best plate pincher's around and one the only few people in the world to pinch the deep dish York 45s what make you think someone could pinch 45lb more at that width? I would like to see one of these super humans that could do it.

Well...to begin with, there are a number of people who can do 2x45 plus added weight. Additionally, I've seen video of Wade 2 hand pinching 220 at 3x45 width. While that's a far cry from 1 handing 135, it's still pretty darn impressive.

As far as I know...no one has specifically trained for 3x45. Specificity is the absolute key for success at any grip feat. I could ask Chad or Wade whether they feel it's possible, but this wouldn't make it so or not.

Right now, on this very board...we have a couple of "Crush" youngsters (early twenties) who are expanding their #4 closing width to CCS. Ask yourself where they might be in 20 years.

Similarly...with the knowledge available now (compared to those who pioneered the sport), I can't imagine where a grip "Pinch" expert might expect to be after 20 years of training.

As impressive as current records are...I believe that in the future, the majority of them will be SHATTERED. All it will take is vision and dedication (and good genes) from a youngster.

I could do 2 45s with added weight, I have also seen Wade's pinch video pinching 3 45s with a pin through it and 8 10s added and it is very impressive. I could work up to maybe 190-200lb in the same way.

No one has trained for 3 45s as its not possible, There is only a HAND FULL of guys doing 3 x 33lb plates.

I know there a guys out there that will close the No4 with the credit card setting rules.

Records will definitely be getting shattered in the near future just like in strongman, The strongmen 20 years ago were not as strong as the ones that don't even make it past the qualifying events these days.

Is it impossible to one hand 3 45s because most people's hands are not big enough to hold on to that many plates, or is it simply because of human capability limit?

Depending on the plates used the width could be 3 1/4" to way way more than that. The weight is 135# which so far at least has not been one hand pinch lifted at any width. But 270# two handed is obviously possible so what is needed is someone who can do half of the 2HP world record at the much wider width. I can't really say I find the idea impossible actually with just the right plates - and just the right set of hands.

We will definitely see3 45's down the road. It's a supporting lift for the most part, which is better for gaining with... Unlike grippers where you're training to hit essentially a lockout at the bottom. Your lockout should be powerful, but them damn grippers get harder when you get there! Lol

Pinching 135lb on 3 loose plates is not the same as pinching 135lb on a europinch set up. I don't think it will happen with 3 x 45lb York plates(over 100mm wide), Maybe one day with 3 x 20kg Eleiko plates at 22mm each that could be possible? I hope to see someone do it one day.

Call me crazy, but I think that someone like Brian Shaw could pull off a 3x45 pinch with a little training. He has the right combination of strength and hand size and already toys with items like blobzilla. I imagine that if he approached training for a feat like 3x45 with the same intensity he approaches strongman, it would happen.
