truth1ness
How does a saxon bar for pinching compare to stuff like pinch blocks, europinch, plates, etc? It seems like in a saxon bar the center of mass is a bit higher up, does this change the mechanics much? Are your saxon bar pinch numbers similar to two hand pinches on those other devices? climber511
Generally a Saxon bar is 3"x4" so thicker than a Euro by a good bit - I don't have a 2" Saxon to compare numbers on. The good thing about the Saxon is the ability to tilt it - strong wrists will let you do some fairly good numbers. Blocks can be similar in that they can often be tilted a lot as well. The Euro doesn't allow the same kind of tilt and is more of a "pure pinch" - kind of like the various plate pinches are. Numbers seem to vary all over the place depending on the person and where their strengths lie with the tilt factor and the perferred width. jvance
i actually made a DIY saxon bar out of wood... all i did was drill out holes so that it can be easily fastened down to my barbell.. i got up to 185 on it last night (2hp max is around 200) i think it is great for working pinch while having the hands farther apart - adds to variety
