David Horne
There are a few new events being sorted. Anyway, this one will enable us to use the Two Hands Pinch apparatus for a quicker event (we've used this event before). It will also test endurance strength too, which is a good thing. The Finnish have many endurance based events. Here's the rules, and of course world and British records are available. Two Hands Pinch Lift - Hold The usual Two Hands Pinch Lift rules apply; except you do not have to lift the apparatus to a certain height. Timing is started from the moment the weight is lifted off the floor, and stopped when it either drops out of the hands, or it is put down. The apparatus is not allowed to touch the legs or any other bodyparts apart from the hands holding it. The minimum time accepted in the contest is 5 seconds. All times are rounded down to the full second ie. 17.77secs, becomes 17secs. Weights to be used are: 100k, 85k, 70k, 55k, 40k or 25k if needed. The best way to operate this event in a contest is to go from heavy (100k) to light, and this means that someone can have an attempt at the heavier weight, and if they fail they can fall back to a lighter weight. Jedd Johnson
Cool. Sounds like the way we did the Trap Bar Deadlift at Holdfast Gauntlet. Worked very well this way.
Electron
I like it. Do the weights have to be calibrated or within a certain tolerance of the ones given?
David Horne
All weights have to always be calibrated for contests. The weights have to be that weight, or of course can be just above, but not below obviously. It does enable us now to put the pinch lift in an event if we are short on time. Also it will be good for a non-grip crowd. I have a large list growing by the minute of events for next year in Britain (at all sorts of venues), and some places have timing issues, so this kind of holding event will work very well. David Horne
Another event, using apparatus we all have is this lift originated by Jedd Johnson. Have fun! Two Hands Shallow Hub Key Pinch Lift To keep this lift within the spirit of the lift originated by Jedd Johnson, the Hub is to be grasped with a key pinch. The hub is gripped with the thumbs inside the hub, and the Index fingers against the outside of the hub. The apparatus is lifted until the marker jutting out at the bottom (at 3.5” from the floor) touches a horizontal bar placed at 16.5”, measured from the underside of the bar to the floor. This allows a 13” lift. There is no referee’s signal. You do not have to be erect upon completion. You must lower the weight under control (hand grasping it all the way down). If the top accidentally touches the bar before the weight itself, referee’s discretion will be used to judge whether the correct height was attained. You must not intentionally tilt the apparatus to gain leverage.

Would it be possible for me and my mate to enter one of your grip competitions??? monstagripp
David Horne
Yes of course. I saw on your profile you are based in Manchester, correct? Anyway we have plenty of comps planned for next year as usual. We also have two events close to you In March as part of the Tour, in Tarleton and in Chorley. Comps are listed on my forum, FB, here or on my main site. http://www.davidhorne-gripmaster.com/gripcontestsforthcoming.html
