How Much Should My Fingers Slide On A Gripper?

I've been progressing with my ISG with smooth handles but finally running into some blisters from my fingers sliding back and forth over the handle on high rep sets. I've searched through the forums about using electrical tape, etc, but I'm wondering how much my fingers should be sliding around on a smooth gripper like the ISG. Is the fact that I'm sliding around mean I'm using improper form or is the sliding good?

I initially tried some chalk, and while it worked well in my palm it made things much worse on the fingers as it felt like skin was getting pinched and pulled. It actually felt best when I put a pinch of that saddle sore stuff bicyclists use or a piece of fabric to allow a nice finger glide and protect the blister. But overall, are my fingers supposed to be sliding around when using smooth handled grippers?

Yes, the fingers should slide. Try athletic tape on your fingers until you develop calluses.

Good tip from jchap. I have always felt it's more effective to tape your fingers and not the gripper.
