Indian Clubs I/p

Finally snuck in some time to rough turn some Indian clubs. Ironically, I had Indian Rosewood (aka. Sisoo) logs in the garage already seasoned, and they happened to be well sized for this. I think I'm going to soak them in some stabilizer, only to get their weight up, because they are a lot lighter than they look due to our constant dry weather. That's a 16" steel ruler next to them. In a couple weeks after soaking in stabilizer and letting them dry a bit, I will finish turn them and apply Danish Oil and Spar Poly.

Very nice! I made myself some with thick handles last year out of maple, they're about 4lbs each, not very heavy but great for the shoulder and rotator cuff. Very nice work man.

Thanks guys!

I want to go a bit 'old school' with this design and probably do 1" handles or less, with the classic ball end, and then v-grooves in the handles. I'm not even sure these are 4 pounds as big as they are. This wood really dries out. From what I have read Sisoo is kind of an invasive species around here, and even though people cut them down, they keep sending rhizomes from the root ball to sprout other trees.
