Eric Roussin
I wasn't sure I felt up to it after shovelling snow for two hours, but I decided to train anyway and I managed to hit a couple of PRs: http://youtu.be/XJdK3HIjCYg

Stephen Ruby
I can't gauge how hard the anvil lift is since never tried it-sure its ridiculous looks like very awkward implement to lift- but that inch lift was ridiculous! I can barley get that thing to hover at all, any tips on what you did to help you dominate it so easily? Great work and good luck at nationals. Eric Roussin
According to what Richard Sorin wrote a few months ago, 205 lbs was the highest mark he was aware of on the Sorinex Anvil Trainer. This lift is 220, so I'm going to go ahead and consider it the "unofficial" record until I'm informed otherwise. However, I think I can keep getting stronger, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the other strong anvil lifters (e.g. Andrew Durniat, Adam Glass, etc.) could already lift as much or more than me if they get an opportunity to try this piece of equipment. Regarding the Inch, I've done a lot of Rolling Thunder work over the years, but I also think I have a good hand for thick bar lifts. I have a longer than average hand (8 1/4" - nothing crazy), and it is not very thick. This allows me to get a good wrap on the handle. I should also add that my hand and wrist have also been strengthened through 16+ years of competitive armwrestling. Though I have a relatively long hand, by hand span isn't huge, at 8 3/4". I think this is one of the reasons that while I can lift the Inch relatively easily, I still can't lift a 50 lb blob, even though I've been training to do it for a long itme.
lifesnotfair
You can absolutely TOY with the inch, yet can't lift the blob? It is a little surprising! In past years I have gotten the impression that armwrestling, while training pretty much the entire forearm/wrist/hand/fingers/etc., probably does NOT create a world-class-strong thumb digit. Bob Brown once told me he could always out-pinch John Brzenk (by grabbing a book and pulling in opposite directions until one of them kept the book), yet Brzenk has arguably the strongest "hand" (in armwrestling meaning) out there. I asked Rob Vigeant Jr. about this and he pretty much agreed with me that pinch training and thumb strength don't add that much to your AW'ing, BUT, he remarked, a decently built thumb-pad makes it harder for the opponent to get a good grip on you, so there's at least that benefit. Eric Roussin
I agree with what you Arturo. I think I have a stronger thumb than most armwrestlers. In fact I've seen more armwrestlers successfully lift the Inch with a "monkey" grip (thumb underneath) than in the traditional way. I trained with the Rolling Thunder for many years to strengthen my fingers so that I would be difficult to toproll, but while doing so, I must have strengthened my thumb along the way. Andrew Durniat has mentioned being able to lift the Inch the first time he tried it, but he had to train quite a bit before he could lift the Blob. Juha Harju
Very strong lifts! This anvil trainer looks a little bit like our cone? Please watch this video from 60sec forward:

Eric Roussin
Juha - That's an awesome collection of grip toys! I think the slope of the Sorinex Anvil Trainer is a bit steeper than the cone at 60 seconds. But it's not quite as steep as the slope of the cone close to the 6-minute mark.

Your lift is really insane!!! I have pulled with "(6-minute) mark cone" only 90kg and it´s Finnish Record. That cone is also harder than Horne top. I must find somewhere anvil too. Where I can buy anvil?
Eric Roussin
90kg sounds like an amazing lift for that cone! Congratulations! As for anvils, new ones can be very expensive ($1,000+). Here in North America quite a few used anvils can be found on websites like eBay, kijiji, craig's list, etc. They will still cost a few hundred dollars, plus shipping can be very expensive because of the weight. I own three anvils, and I was lucky enough to find all three locally so I was able to pick them up instead of having them shipped.

I´ll try to find old one!
