Recommended Posts

This challenge is on my forum for those that fancy it. But since the Blob curl against the wall got interest, maybe this will?

Have fun!

New Rankings challenge for those with a globe Inch Dumbbell.

Globe dumbbell Curl against Wall
Rules
1. Use a proper Globe Dumbbell for the max weight, and hang weight from the handle.
2. Use a replica 54k Inch Dumbell (Strength Shop/Gladiator/HGT bell) for the
54k dumbell for Reps.
3. Curl the Globe Dumbell (parallel to the ground), with one hand pushing against the outsides of each globe end.
Video

4. Your upper back and bottom are to stay against the wall. Your heels of your feet can be 10" away from the wall, to take strain off your back.
5. Post the youtube video link here.

Have fun guys!

Here is my submission. Roughly 128.5 non-calibrated.

Google says 128.5 lbs is 58.2866 kilos.

Nice lift there Jedd.

You put some caled/rated blobs and stuff on that scale to see how accurate it is. Those scales seem to be good to within the closest half pound.

I have point cal'd it for comps, but I didn't bother with that process for this challenge.

Great stuff Jedd.

I don't know how to edit my original post here.

So here is the update, with Jedd's.

Whew, glad I looked a bit farther into the post.....I thought he was writing about one handed! Really super test and great numbers for a classic upper body strength builder!

The only Globe type DB I have is my Gracie bell at 146# - I tried but not much happened :).

You can mimic the movement with a box - shaped object, maybe a tool box. Won't be exactly the same, but replicated the force.

I imagine this taxes your entire upper body and grip significantly. Very nice lift jedd, race to inch with david now  ?

There's tension across the entire upper body, yes. A race to the Inch with David? We shall see.

Not quite the same thing, but I used to do curls kind of like this with these big rocks I found in the creek. I have a 105-ish rock that puts some pretty good torque on the wrists. Haha

Right, not quite the same, but similar idea. You get the same broad recruitment across the torso.

That's a big rock! I wanted to sort of get in on it too, so I loaded up my IronMaster dumbbell. I threw on 75 just to see if it would work. I'll try going for weight later. Definitely not the same thing, but it at least makes me feel like part of the group :)

Ha yeah it is a big one... Got a few other big ones, but that's the biggest.

Funny story, I wanted a big rock for carrying around, I was hoping for something at least 150lbs, and found that one, and of course because of the size of It I really couldn't properly guess the weight so I just thought it was like 160 or something.. When I actually got to weigh it and saw it is 105, I was like "damn, too light. Well maybe I can use it for curls and presses." haha

I'd curl it, press it over head, and throw it, then pick it up and do it again, all the way down to the back of my yard and back up to the house. Good way to wear your ass out. Haha.

First aim will be doing the 67k dumbbell.

Rob Russell has one, so when I'm ready I'll get him to bring it to me.
