Strength Needed To Tns Coc #2 ?

Hey guys, I've recently began grip training and I was just wondering if you guys could tell me where you were at strength wise at the time you were able to TNS a COC #2 as this is my current goal. I am thinking I would have to be able to CCS a 2.5 and MMS a 3, does this sound about right. currently I can only TNS the 1.5x3. I used to have a trainer/0.5/1/1.5 set up to train with but sold them to a friend as he wanted to get into grip, however I still have access to them. I now have the GHP 1/2/3/4/5 to train with so I guess I should say my goal is to TNS the GHP 5 as that's what I have now and its my understanding that a GHP5 is slightly harder than a COC 2 so I would have to be able to at least TNS a COC 2 first and most people are more familiar with the COC line anyways. I find the GHPs much harder due to the spread and even though the ghp4 is supposed to be only slightly harder then a coc1.5 I am unable to close it at this point. I can do the ghp3 but its not easy. My friend will likely want a coc 2 for himself when he gets good with the 1.5 so I will eventually have one to try as well as my ghp5. I don't plan on ordering a ghp 6 or 7 unless I have to because id like to be able to master the highest gripper I own and don't see a use buying ones I will never have the strength to do anything impressive with. I am most impressed by the TNS style. I am however considering getting either a Vulcan v2 or a RB Deluxe adjustable gripper for heavier resistance than the ghp5 offers so I can do negatives.

I find TNS not much harder then MMS so I think its different for everyone. I can't speak on the number 2 since can't remember but with the #3 I was only able to do a few mms reps -less then 5- yet I was able to tns it. I am focusing purely on mms now since most grip contest are done with this set as well as most certs-ghp and mash monster- Depending your goal would determine what set you use though, if you want to cert with ironmind it would be a good idea to practice ccs. If goal is just to close big grippers or do mm ladder or ghp certs I would focus on mms. i would do TNS a lot since I didn't know about sets now I struggle a lot with the last portion of the close with harder grippers like my 3.5 I just bought.

There's no special nr, but depending on the difference in strength between your #1.5 and #2 I would say 10-15 TNS reps would give you a #2 TNS.

Grippers vary and so does individual strength levels, some is better at endurance while some have a higher max strength.

As Griparn mentioned, gripper resistance isn't completely consistent across batches and between individual grippers. I found that I was able to TNS my #2 for many reps before I got anywhere near my #3 MMS, or CCS my #2.5. However, it may be that I have an easy #2.

I could close my #1 for about 10 TNS reps before I bought a #2 and closed it TNS right out of the package.

Most seem to find about half a level difference in TNS vs MMS strength, so you'd need to be able to MMS a #2.5.

About 10 reps (of whatever set) seems about right to give a single (of the same set) on a gripper half a level harder. For a full level it's more like 20 reps. These are just general guidelines thought, as Griparn says some are better reppers than others.
