speedy
I should be working which is why I am asking and not researching but I saw the add for: Cannon Powerworks. I currently literally carry around a COC 2 and I used to own and crush on a good day a 2.5. My goal is COC 3 and your certs: this has been a goal I been on and off but I swear I am sticking to it this time. Thinking of replacing the COC 2 with something harder and thinking a 2.5 might be a waste of money. So debating between a #3 or should I go with a Cannon Powerworks and if yes, which #. Thanks guys. Chez
Sorry, I didn't understand the question as written. Are you looking for something between a COC #2.5 and COC #3 or just a COC #3? Also, Cannon Power Works carries the full line of Capitans of Crush grippers and other major brands of grippers. The service is great and shipping is cheap and quick. Matt Cannon is admin of this board and a stand up guy. I highly recommend buying any gripper you decide on from Cannon Power Works. Here is the link to all the capitan of crush grippers on cannon power works: http://cannonpowerworks.com/collections/ironmind The store also carries the full line of tetting, manus and GHP grippers which are the other high quality brands currently being produced that fall between COC levels. Cannon
Thanks for the shout Chez! Really appreciate that. Hey, speedy, what can you do with the #2? Can you smash it for reps at will? Do you use a set? I really think GHP6 might be a good fit for you. It's generally an overall harder gripper than a 2.5. http://cannonpowerworks.com/collections/ghp/products/ghp6
speedy
Up to 3 reps at a time. I decided to order the #3 from IM just for testing my progress. I am giving serious thought to order the one you recommended as a middle ground between my #2 and the #3 but I have a question. If you go to IM's site they are saying that the COC's are in the 200lb resistance range (2 up to 3) but your site says different. Please explain. speedy
On your site GHP LEVEL 6 - 135lbs COC 2.5 - 130lbs COC 3 - 135lbs Then when I go to IM's site they say for those 2: COC 2.5 - 237.5lbs - http://www.ironmind-store.com/No25-Captains-of-Crush-Hand-Gripper/productinfo/1252.5/ COC 3 - 280lbs - http://www.ironmind-store.com/No3-Captains-of-Crush-Hand-Gripper/productinfo/1253/ Hence my confusion. Please educate me. Also Cannon, you should contact Ross at Rosstraining.com if you haven't done so already. I know quite a few members that would love what you have to sell. Might be able to workout a way to advertise there as well. Edited February 15, 2013 by speedy
BenMorrissey
There are others on this board who will be able to better explain it, but Cannon Powerworks uses the RGC (Redneck Gripper Calibration). Ironmind's (as well as almost every other brand of gripper) ratings are based on pressure applied at the middle of the handle, whereas with the RGC, the weight is placed at the end of the handle. As grippers are based on leverage, this 'lowers' the overall rating of the gripper. Plus, I believe that the Ratings on Powerworks are averages, so you can get one slightly harder/slightly easier (as with any brand bought from anywhere). The RGC gives a generally better overview of how grippers perform next to others, which informs the decision making process. All grippers will feel slightly different (The sweep and the 'end') in the hand, but the pressure required to close them is what will ultimately make the difference. Also, I believe that you were looking at the Zenith #3, which is noted to be easier than an actual #3. The #3 rates on Cannon Powerworks at 150lbs, which is noticeably harder than a #2.5. Hope this helps. EDIT: Should you so wish, Powerworks also provides a rating service, if you wish to know how strong your grippers actually are. Chez
Matt also describes the RGC rating system here on the cannon power works site: http://cannonpowerworks.com/pages/ratings
speedy
Thanks guys: that really clears it up. As far as the Zenith, most definitely that was not the gripper I was looking at. I am a strong believer if it works do not fix it. That goes especially for COC grippers. Those products IMHO are top notch and there really wasn't a need for Zenith except maybe for those that can't handle the COC's which I would tell them then go store grippers :-D. Just my opinion. Cannon
speedy, looks like the rating thing is pretty well recapped above. I believe they were correcting your typo here: On your site GHP LEVEL 6 - 135lbs COC 2.5 - 130lbs COC 3 - 135lbs The regular CoC #3 is average 150lbs, not 135lbs. The Zenith #3 is 135. Do you feel like your question was answered? I can certianly clarify if anything is not clear.
speedy
No you guys are awesome and everything is much clearer now. Thanks again. Glad to see this forum still here. Cannon, I hope you contact Ross for I think that might help you with profits for there is a lot more strength/powerlifters there than people realize.
