brissyguy83
Hi Guys I have a goal to close my HG 300, however it seems a lot harder then my Hg250, which I can close quite easily. What would be a good bridge gripper to get me their? Thanks
Mephistopholes
Well, I'm not sure where they "stack up" exactly, so i don't think I could Recommend a bridging gripper for you, but I can recommend this: I find I make much better progress to bigger grippers by doing static holds, so something that might help you bridge the gap without another gripper in the mix is to do strap holds with your 250. Also, silver bullet style holds with the 300. And if you don't have a silver bullet, it's not too hard to rig up a "mock" version of one using another gripper and a shoestring, but that set up isn't as smooth or easy to use as the real thing. Haha. So if you order another gripper, I'd say throw a silver bullet in the box too. I think it's a good tool for this kind of stuff... brissyguy83
Thanks for the advice, i have started strap holds with the 250, and will look into the silver bullet. I can get the 300 to about 5mm on a good day. But that last 5mm feels riduculously hard.

canthar
The silver bullet really nails the weak point for me. I have a hate hate relationship with it. I swear it laughs at me once a week when I take it out.

mds6387
Do forced reps with your HG300. Get it as close as you can and then push it the rest of the way closed by using your leg. Use as little as cheat effort as you can. This will insure maximum effort at full ROM so you will get the maximum out of your training. Find your peak hormone production in the day. Mine is at night time around 7-8pm. I just know because I'm a heck of a lot stronger around this time.
brissyguy83
Yes yes. I have been working on both. The forced reps/ negatives seem to smash my hands/forearms so much more then just working reps on the grippers I can close.
Rick Walker
Strap holds. Nothing against the silver bullet, but a couple layers of duct tape and a shoe string works great. Grab a 5 pound plate, tie it on with the shoe string, use a couple layers of duct tape, and get to work. You have to squeeze extremely hard to hold onto the slippery tape, and that, in turn, will increase your strength at the close. Also, make sure the gripper is being held straight up and down, no bend on the strap as that will make it easier to hold onto.
brissyguy83
All great stuff. Tried strap holds on the 250 with negatives on the 300 yesterday. I think I'm going to need to rest my hands more. They made holding on to anything in jiu jitsu harder cause they were so burnt out.
