thehammer Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Has anyone had these in a carryon and had a problem with the TSA search or xray? With the cost of checking bags, I wanted to bring them with me in the carryon, but obviously if it's going to get me back roomed or on a no fly list, I will either leave at home or check them. Quote
ATK Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I've done it twice. The first time I got asked if those are hand grippers and they let me through without an issue, the second time they made a big ordeal about them. The border agent was yelling OMG, that guy has "clamps" in his bag and proceeded to open my bag. He then picked up a number 2 and tried to close it, after that failed, he tried to unscrew the handles (looking for sharp edges), after that failed and after two more border agents played around with them they let me through. Both times I was flying from Canada to UK. Quote
dayeung Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 I've done it a few times. Most recently I've taken them from the U.S. to Asia. I usually put them in checked luggage, but I've carried them on the plane before, too. No one has ever asked me about them. Quote CoC 2 6/28/11 CoC 2.5 8/3/11 CoC 3

thehammer Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 thanks for the info guys. I'm flying within the US. Doing KTA so definitely need to bring them with me. Sounds like it'll be ok. Quote
JasonL Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 My friend told me they would not let him carry on the grippers, since they were considered a "Blunt Object"...that can be used to hurt people... Steve B. Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 The TSA is joke. It probably depends on the actuall security agent checks you. A buddy of mine works for them and is a competitive power lifer. He would know what they are but then you get some that would check an 80 year old lady in a wheel chair diapers. I think it's a 50/50 chance IMO. Quote
