ATK Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Finally able to close the 3 pretty consistently every day after 10 months. Got a good video of a close, a little hold and an attempt at a second rep which failed miserably. Now I have to work for more and more reps and eventually start widening the set for CCS attempts. What really helped was my volume routine that I did for 2 weeks with the #2, after which I took 10 days off from grip training. I apologize for using the electrical tape on one of the handles, I did not want to invest into skin savers and since my fingers are in rough shape I had to protect them a bit. Here is the video: Quote

Nice close I've been into the grip training game for 9 months now and I still have about 1 cm left on #3, so I guess I'll have to hurry up! Bring up your reps with the #2. Quote

Maybe you're right, cause this far I've just been doing negatives and singles on grippers I can't close or ones that I just can close. ATK Posted October 4, 2011 Author Posted October 4, 2011 That's exactly what I was doing before I went for a couple of weeks of volume training. I closed the 3 already before in June, but was never able to repeat the close until about September. In June I was able to MMS close the #2 about 12 times and I never focused on volume. In August all I trained was volume and at the end I was able to close 26 times right and 22 times left. I rested for 10 days after and now I'm able to consistently close the #3 for 3 to 4 singles during the day.... Quote

So, if I will try a rep-workout with my #2, how many sets should I do and should I just do all the reps from parallel or should I do them all the way from an open position? daniel reinard Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Spend as much time near the closed position as possible. Think time under tension and working the hardest part of the close, the last .5". Wide reps are junk for quick progress. Close the gripper hard and fast and slowly open to parallel, then quick close, repeat. Just my opinion and current plan and have had great results. ATK Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Thanks a lot! In regards to the volume workout with the #2, I did all of my reps with a parallel (mms) set. I had no set amount of sets and reps, I did the old school Grease the Groove approach. I placed the gripper in my kitchen, so everytime I walked in to eat or have something to drink, I banged out 70 to 80% of the max number of reps I could do (basically if I could do 20 reps max, I would do 15 and put it down).
