Great me and Russ got our scores mixed up on the 2HP. Why couldn't I have gotten his Vulcan score instead?

Sounds like it was a bad Pinch day all over the US.

Except maybe for me :) I set a PR!

Hey I still don't understand how the scoring works. How did I finish ahead of David Elmer and Teemu Koivunen in the overall, but behind them in the 82.5kg class?

Yeah, that shouldn't be. Great performance Matt. What were your weights lifted?

Matt lifted a best of 178.035 at 166 lbs BW. I believe that is an all time PR for him, and also a tremendous improvement from pinch at Nationals

David wrote me and clarified that it's correct. The 82.5 class results are not just the overall pared down. David said it's like a totally separate competition. The 82.5 scores are recalculated against just each other instead of the whole lot. Therefore, lifts could be worth more or less than in the overall. I kind of understand. But I still admit that I'm having great difficulty wrapping my brain around the scoring in general.

Does this make sense?

Yep, 8lbs PR from Nats!

I got L11 on the Vulcan, 35.07 on the coin, and 41.79 on the stub.

Dang, big PR Matt! Strong lifts all around. It was a shame about being sick leg 1. You're overall total is still very competitive so leg 3 should move you up even higher.

Big stub lift, I expect a chase to push the record next month. I found there is much technique to this lift. I dropped 47.6 on my last two attempts, last attempt missed by 1 inch. In hindsight I should have done 46.5, but with 49.6 having gone up in training and 47.1 going up several times it would be a done deal. I think my left index finger had some pain in it from setting that Vulcan which played a roll in the drops. Lesson learned.

Thanks! I also just noticed that I won my local contest! I thought Chris Mathison beat me! :D

So there are Leg 1 scores figured into the Leg 2 results?

Scoring

1st = 200 2nd = 120 3rd = 72 4th = 36 5th = 18 6th = 9 7th = 4.5 8th = 4.25 9th = 4 10th = 3.75 11th = 3.5 12th = 3.25 13th = 3 14th = 2.75 15th = 2.5 16th = 2.25 17th = 2 18th = 1.75 19th = 1.5 20th = 1.25

1.24 for 21, 1.23 for 22 etc. One hundredth of a point off for each position after 20th.

So if someone wins all 3 legs they will have 600pts.

If someone in the final top 3 (top 5 for open at the end) has the same points, then I will use the count back method to see who has the best positions. This is what they use in strongman contests.

Dan, your stub and coin lifts really came together.

That stub WR is HUGE! Excellent work. Good job taking the top stop in Leg 2!!!

Brandon Gerber put up a massive 2HP number too. Incredible!

Great job on holding onto first place in the 82.5k class Daniel!
