Patriot Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 It has been a goal of mine to get certified on the COC 3...but i have really decided to make the goal a big priority. I have closed the 2.5 and am around a quarter of an inch give or take to the number 3...how close am i really? With really pursuing it, how long should I take to get this done? Thank you. daniel reinard Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 It's all up to you and your body. Some never get it done, that's why so few are on the list. Some climb to closing a #3 but struggle with the CCS. Some take 7 months from the first time they touched a gripper to doing it. Don't worry about how long it will take. Just train hard and smart and you'll unlock your potential. Quote Introduced to grip world 8/22/10
AlexR Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Enjoy the journey, don't get too hung up on if you can or can't close the thing.Have fun training,if its no fun, what's the point?I train grip 5 days a week, but always look foward to it. Ernie, it's good to see that your goal is certifying on the #3! I also know about your strength background so I can tell you without any doubt in my mind that you've got a big enough strength base to certify on the #3 with minimal time spent on training. Maybe 6 months if you're already at the #2.5 level. As for how long it should take, there is no set amount of time to close "X" gap. Some people just progress faster and others are quite slow to bridge even a 1/4" gap. Again, my guess will be 6 months if you get your training right. There are plenty of certified COCs here that would be able to help you. I'll always volunteer my help anytime you want it - and I'm just one of many, many certified COCs. Quote
Bill Piche Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 It can take months to close even an 1/8 gap consistently. As suggested, you need to get your training right and have a plan of attack. The more varied and "all over" from a plan stand point IMO the longer it will take. Unless you closed the 2.5 immediately and then you can probably just stay consistent, work hard, and you will likely close that gap pretty quickly. Quote

Bob Lipinski Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Ernie, you should be able to do this in under a year if you really want to, based on what I think I know of your overall strength. Quote US Handstrength

Geralt Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) the first thing i need to do is close the number 2.5 consistently! Maybe file the handle down a bit of your #2.5? I´m also in training for CCS my #3. It´s all up to you and your body I guess. I personally don´t respond well to a lot of workouts in one week, my hands need a lot of time to recover. So I train intense when I do. I´m struggling with the last part in CCS. But I´m persistent and very specific in my training now. It will take time to reach my goal. Time will tell. For me it´s now Rest/Strapholds choked #3/negatives with #3.5/and more rest. Good luck with your yourney!
