wolfguard Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 I have been talking to grad schools and a lot of them are saying I get a better chance of getting into the program (exercise science) if I have some sort of certificate or something saying I have accomplished such feat. They said a trophy is nice, but I could get them made so they want proof. When you get certified for a FBBC bend, or some sort of IM cert do you get something saying you completed the cert or just your name on the website. Quote
rico300zx Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Just a guess, but i think that its just your name on the companys web site . I would think some type of certificate signed by the sponser would be best for proof too, incase of an electronic failure or the company was sold. Also the event that you had a falling out of good standing and they decided to remove you from any lists that you were on, you would never have any proof you ever did it. Maybe if you just took a good video and posted on you tube as proof. rico Quote Dare to compare? daniel reinard Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 From Ironmind website: This goes for the CoC Gripper and Red Nail certs. We’ll also announce your accomplishment in the next issue of MILO: A Journal for Serious Strength Athletes; and we’ll send you an official CoC certificate, along with a T-shirt and CoC ID card that proves your mettle. John sent out some FBBC certificates a while back, I've got a fair few stashed safely away. Quote Mike Mackenzie. Luceo non uro.
mt-tom Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I got a certificate from IM back in 2003 for the #3 cert. Don't know if they still issue them. Tom Quote
wolfguard Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 So it seems from this they tend to do so, or at least have the ability to. This is good news for me. The school I am looking is pretty based on your admissions letter and reasons for going into the program along with what you have done in the field. Quote
RiotGrip Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 In my experience, certifications like this help you tremendously on any application. I've listed my CoC certification on every CV (Curriculum Vitae--medical term for resume') for every position that I've applied for. I can tell you honestly that someone from every position has asked me "So what are the Captains of Crush?" I would tell them, and they were always impressed. I can also tell you no one ever asked for proof, but they may have checked the website on their own. If you have done it, you've earned the right to tell people, its things like that which may set you apart from other applicants--use it to the max! Good luck with your application.
