ninja64x
any thoughts on hg200 or rb210 as next step from coc2? cant quite close coc 2.5 hi, i have all the HG's. i can beat the hg200 for 5 or maybe 6 or 7 reps. i know they are over rated. i reckon you can knock off 50 lbs off each hg. i also have a coc#2, am one quarter inch of beating it. Autolupus
any thoughts on hg200 or rb210 as next step from coc2? cant quite close coc 2.5 Well neither really. An HG200 will be well below a #2 and most RB210s are between #2.5 and #3.
Force
Beef Builder Master with 5/8" handles is the best gripper if you aim between #2 and #2.5.

Anthony151
An HG 200 is about an easy COC #1.5 or a hard #1, and yes there are strength differences among all grippers. I also know for a fact that my RB210 is way harder than my COC #2.

Magnus
To be honest, I'm not sure about using 5/8 grippers to bridge gaps. They have a WAY different feel than a regular gripper, and after you've used a 5/8" gripper, even for just a short period of time, they make regular grippers feel really weird. IMO, a filed gripper would be better.
AlexR
HG are all over the place,in my opinion .I used a HG250 that was about a 2,maybe a little more.I would stick with the 2.5 and file the
Benedikt Farsmann
I'm with Magnus on the thinner handles - the ROM is so different and because of the handles it makes it quite a whole different exercise. Also I don't recommend buying HG's because if I was to start over new I wouldn't buy any of them because of the low quality. Judging by the calibrated gripper list (http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AvL4CWlivw9zdHVfMGMzTmxwUGVZUDMyWjVtWVNid1E&authkey=COO-2a0H&hl=en#gid=0) I would get a RB180 or a FBBC oldschool 3x (attention: it has non-knurled handles that makes it quite a different exercise too). I myself would get an adjustable Vulcan because you can't go wrong with that one and it is great for negatives.

I can't get used to using my vulcan for negatives,I use a normal gripper,as the Vulcan is a beast to set,may try it with a extended handle,if I can fabricate one. Benedikt Farsmann
No problem with that, man. Try this: Grab the Vulcan with your gripping hand like normal, press it against your leg and pull on the upper rear handle above (or under) the spring to force it shut. I simply use a pipe as an extension. See http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtopic=35529

If you make good strength gains with 5/8" handles, it will to the some point shift to normal handle closing ability. *There is only two calibrated BBM 5/8 and both are below average #2. But when average normal BBM is slightly harder than #2, it makes sense that BBM with 5/8" must be a little harder.
