just a wee bit curious, how much is the average yearly gym fee in the U.S.A.?? over here (ireland) its about 500 euro. some places look for weekly fees, maybe 10 euro. i see todays exchange rate is $1.30 to the euro. none of us millionaires , so 500 is a fair amount.

I pay $65/month which is $780/year or 600euro. It's a rock climbing gym so a bit more than normal I suppose.

I've paid from $30 a month to $110 a month at commercial gyms. I think Planet Fitness (lunk alarm place) might be $20 a month.

In my experience, the equipment and trainers do not get any better with the higher fees. It's choice between working out with young punks or self centered pricks.

I lift in my basement now.

110 is a bit steep, don't you think? gyms over here put you on a programme, thinks its for insurance purposes. in case of injuries. treat you like an ape.

Planet fitness is $10 there's one directly across the street and every time I walk in to join I end up leaving. The people that work there think there doing something good by kicking everyone out that makes a peep. We don't need parents were all adults, there's too much control there with young kids pushing buttons. I liked the YMCA better I think it was $65 for the whole family

Anyway I lift in my basement heater room or behing my shed now for free.

I pay 9 Euro's per month for a 24-7 entrance at my work's gym with a lot of weights and equipment, so that's a pretty good deal.

Problem is I don't visit it that much since my arm injury, so then every month's fee is a waste of money.

I train at home most of the time. Far better for me.

I pay $30-35/month for the powerlifting focused gym I joined this summer, and I still pay on another more commercial one because it's so cheap - $4.85/month. (I got a deal when they were first starting up years ago - pay a lot up front but hardly anything from then on).

My company gym was $15/month but I really didn't want to spend my off-hours at my workplace.

You have the best deal so far. Variety is the spice of life!

I pay 10 dollars a month.

ten bucks is nothing. not even 2 pints of stout!! lucky man you are.

99% of the gyms in my town charge the same amount. There a couple of them that are more expensive around 20-30 dollars a month, but when you consider that the average salary in my country is 350 dollars it's not that cheap as it sounds to you.

I've paid from about $200 to $450 a year, whatever that is in euros. Generally it's more expensive in city areas or for "athletic clubs" which have a bunch of other stuff (pools, bball courts, childcare etc).

You can join my homegym for a 6 pack a month!

Yep, spice only if it doesn't break the bank! I was upset when they went up from 4.50/month - they had a clause that they could go up every year but they only chose to do that once. Ha. ;)

Location of course makes such a difference - my fees are good considering I'm in a metropolitan area but the PL gym doesn't have all the extra amenities to charge more for either.

I'm lifting at Pure Fitness right now and paid $240 for the year and got 6 months free for paying up front. Otherwise it was $20 a month.

The $110 a month was to workout at a gym in the heart of downtown chicago, without signing a year contract. It was actually one of the cheaper options that had decent free weights.
