Martin Gaisser
I want to get on Wade's heavy list on the Grip Gauntlet. Right now the only thing I'm lacking is lifting the Blob. I'm so close on the rolling thunder I don't see it being a problem but the Blob still might hold me back another year. So to those who've lifted it how would you train for it. I plan on giving it a shot at the Arnold in February. And I might try to line it up with IronMind to cert on the #3 and the RED at the same time as well. That would be one awsome day! bencrush
I got comfortable lifting a 42.5 York and then made sure to take a lot of attempts on the Blob so that I'd get comfortable with the weight and width. Increasing the 2HP has worked well for a lot of guys. I'm not one of them though. My 2HP was probably 170lbs max when I first lifted the Blob. Don't be over-confident when it comes to lifting the RT at the Grip Gauntlet. After hundreds of people attempt to lift it, that handle is going to get really slick. Jedd Johnson
The Arnold Blob is one of the hardest in the world to lift. It has sick paint on it and it gets touched by greasey hands all day long. Do you have a fatman, blob replica, or a blob50?

Yea I know what you and Jedd mean about the stuff getting slick I tried it last year. I've done 190 on the old handle with no traing whatsoever so I thought I might be able to improve enough by then but maybe not. I guess I'm counting on that bit of beginers burst that you get when you start training something new. It's something to shoot for though. DAN PRAYDIS
like jedd said some have slick paint on them 1. use windex first to wipe them and your hands off 2. pick up with help from your other hand and let down slow after a while you will pull it 3. i think Burkhard Macht bounced his off the bed and held it each time we did that too and it helped and one good way we trained was by using five standerd ten pound plates start with four until you can get five and make a wood plate from plywood to space the four tens for wide grip you will get it
Six Barrel Shotgun
Bumbing this thread since I've gotten myself a Blob50 which im keen on lifting.. I did negatives and cheatlifts. Shoggoth
Bumbing this thread since I've gotten myself a Blob50 which im keen on lifting.. I did negatives and cheatlifts. How is a "cheatlift" done? You use your non-lifting hand to apply a bit of pressure on the thumb side of the implement. You could cheatlift the blob to a full pull, release your assisting hand and hold for a negative.
Cannon
I used a deloder and just worked it down to nothing. This was working for me as well. Although I never managed an unassisted lift and now have not trained blob lifts in over a year.
nickr104
TO lift that blob you need to work with pinching with one that's slick. I have yet to lift it fully and have lifted all kinds of blobs.

Cannon
I sold my BLOB50 in favor of an original York that I acquired. The orig York feels a zillion times heavier than the BLOB50 because of the texture. It is SOOOO slick. I hope to have someone who can lift the BLOB give it a try and give an estimate of how hard it is. But it sounds like the one you've got, Nick. I just picked up an actual York blob recently and I can attest to the differences in texture to your old blob50. I put a bunch of profile pics from different angles of my blob50, new style York blob and my York legacy blob on my site. Oh and for me, although the actual blob is slicker for some reason it just feels better in my hand. I have a feeling it's coming up before the blob50.
