Any Numbers On A 2.5 Axle?

Anyone out there try any larger bars on the double overhand axle lift? I saw a training pull of 465 and a partial pull and miss at 480 today on a 2.5 bar by Big Rich. When I go to figure it is a bit larger than an Inch Dumbbell handle(2.40") and 465lb. divided by 2(each hand) is 232.5 in each hand.To make it harder the bar had olympic sleeves that rotate. In the past I saw him get 400 on a 3" bar. Any numbers out there? RS

400 on a 3" bar?? Thats nuts!! About six months ago when I was working thick bar stuff I pulled 275 on a non-knurled 3" bar and thought I was doing alright.

Hey friend don't feel bad ..Try as I may the poundage gap between those small increments from 2 to 2.5 or 3 is HUGE. My hands being of average size take a beating as the diameter goes up. I think in persepective the 400 on the 3" might be the "sleeper" as far as a truly great feat... and to get 480 moving well on a 2.5 is in there too.RS

The gap between the ironmind axle and the training axle i had for years is small, but it reduces the numbers tremendously.

Rich's numbers with those larger bars are phenomenal. Great work.

Chris James has a youtube video of him doing 105kg (231.5#) with one hand on the 2.5" bar.

I would have assumed this meant a bigger two handed lift, but I also found he has one of 190kg (419#) where he uses both hands.

This led me to quickly check his log (which he hasn't updated in about a month) and I found he did lockouts on the 2.5" bar I think 230kg (507#) but that's just lockouts and not from the floor.

My guess is he can't match Rich but is not too far. But this is just a guess. :upsidedwn

I am now completely ashamed to post my numbers :). But my ratio between a 2" and a 2 3/8" lift is about 6/5 I guess. I don't have a 3" axle to try. I wonder how the ratios between bars relates to hand size? My guess is that bigger hands will give a smaller ratio but who knows.
