rico300zx
I made up a new 2HP trainer. what do you guys think?, Its for my 1" weights. Oh and it cost me nothing at all, just stuff i had around the house. im going to use when traveling and for my outdoor set of weights and i can just keep it in the shed. I may make it 4MM thicker since that what i pull with but for messing around it may just be fine the way it is now. ~Parris pic1 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&img=9631 pic2 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&img=9632 pic3 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&img=9633 pic4 http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&img=9634

JD Well I don't know if it works better but it does work well, If you want to get your pinch up over 200 then you'll have to train your butt off that's not a light weight you know. What have u been training with so far? Rico
Benedikt Farsmann
Great piece of equipment. Easy to copy as well
Legendofjd3
I think 200 is a realistic goal. I went to Lowe's and bought this piece of pipe not long ago. I took it outside last Thursday and picked up 151 lbs the 1st time I've ever even tried anything like this. It tore the skin on my R thumb pretty good. Looks like I'll need to toughen it up. LOL. But anyway, this is what I used. Any thoughts?? Seemed to work.

That's a great way to train, I would take a grinding wheel and round off the edges then sand that smoothe, it will help with the cuts a lot. Also keep in mind that in comp. The most common widths are 48mm and 54mm, I'm betting your way thicker than that now so id find a way to train with those widths since that's what will most likely be availiable when you compete for that top 50 spot. Legendofjd3
Thanks man. I somehow thought 2 45's was a little more narrow then what you built. Guess I'll have to go measure. Tomorrow I'll head out in the garage and make a thick handled wrist roller from PVC. Just bought a cheapo and the handles are to skinny.... but it still killed my forearms. I'll have to keep track of my progress on the 2hp. It seems like adding 10 lbs. here or there will take some serious effort. But all this grip stuff is new for me, so I hope the progress is steady. Legendofjd3
*** Update.... tried out a real euro pinch and pulled a fairly easy 173. That was at the end of the day after John Eaton wore me out trying a ton of new things. I think if I was fresh I could possibly get 190ish or so. Legendofjd3
Thanks Rico. Although I've been involved in powerlifting since 1984, this grip world is entirely new to me. I love learning new things from the more experienced members. I even fashioned my own pinch grip using the pics you posted. Came out pretty good. It's 54 mm wide. Will be trying it out tommorrow for the 1st time.
rico300zx
That's cool post a pic or a link of it here when your finished, I use 54mm for the pinch and I think a lot of people do either that or 48mm. Tell John I said hi too. Parris
