big bri
I have been stationed in Charleston, SC for the last couple years. While I was moving back to my home state today I decided to stop at the Sorinex showroom since I knew I wouldn't have the chance again for a while. As soon as I walked in Mr. Sorin introduced himself to me and started giving me a tour of the entire showroom. I got to see lots of items that you likely won't find anywhere else. I had the opportunity to give the same circus dumbbell used at the Arnold a try. I was astonished at how difficult it is and hence how strong those competitors are to be able to press that thing. He also took me on a tour of his office where he keeps a lot of grippers, including the Phantom #4, and the original blob. At some point during my visit Bert came in and introduced himself and we talked about different equipment and training. It was such an awesome experience and I'm so glad I decided to stop by. Their hospitality was incredible and I hope I can make it back soon. Thanks Mr. Sorin and Bert!
Tim71
Wow that must've been neat. I'd love to stop by if I'm ever in the area and see some of that legendary equipment and meet the first COC. That's one of the places I'd love to go along with Don Larkin's gym and Warren Tetting's shop. I bet that circus bell is a monster. Isn't it 202 pounds with a 3 inch handle? Are Mark Henry and Odd Haugen the only 2 to deadlift it? Tim
1stCoC
It was a pleasure to have you visit. The welcome mat is always out to my friends in grip. I think it is far better to let people see, feel, lift, try, and then make their own decisions and observations first hand. I encourage visits but please BE aware we do travel to far flung deliveries and do shows so please email or call ahead as not to waste a trip. I am also going to "let go" some training pieces and some one of a kind grip machines and prototypes. So, be sure to ask if you are interested. We have tons of interesting"stuff". I did get in yesterdat two FAT 50lb OLD unnamed exercise plates that are 2 1/4" thick and a straight sided donut looking. To pinch one is a chore, to pinch two together (with or without a connecting bar) would be monumental.Just one of the things we get in every week for everyone to enjoy......RS
odin
So, be sure to ask if you are interested. We have tons of interesting"stuff". Thanks for the write-up big bri ! I've had great experiences during both my visits to Sorinex as well, first class all the way. Richard, I would be interested in purchasing an Inch DB below 150 lbs. I remember reading that you picked up a second Inch in the 132-140 lb. range recently, that would be ideal for Inch-related 1HDL rep work for me (the "middleweight/154/158 would be too heavy at this point in time). If you need both for the big fellows to work towards a double Inch clean or snatch, I'll understand, but please keep me in mind if a third Inch under 140 lbs. comes along. BTW, I'm getting closer to a full Inch DL, I need ~5-7.5 lbs. in counterweights to do it most days and hope to get it in the next year or two. 1stCoC
Odin , We missed you this year at the birthday bash. While anbything like the "light " inches are near impossible to find. We build we and have some fillable "Circus bells' In several sizes available. And of course you can carpool with a friend and come play for a day ..free. I do own the Inch Bell pattern that all the replica bells sold were made from. I might start having them recast.RS

I'd love to come up for a workout and a visit sometime. I feel like I need to make that "Grip Pilgrimage" at least once a year now, or something is missing... 1stCoC
Speaking of the "baby" Inch (138lb) bells the "Cyborg" Jason Lawson just deadlifted a pair of them, sat on a 25 degree incline bench horsed them into position and then pressed them for 10 reps. After finishing he sat back up, lowered them back to his knees stood up and then placed them gently back on the ground. Working with those "different" things will tend to make one stronger. It's here guys. RS
