Droppin' Plates

I've been doing most of my grip work in the house after coming home from the gym. My problem is that my holds with a significant amount of weight ends up thumping the floor, and I'm just waiting to see the crawlspace through the floor. Anyone have a good suggestion, other than going outside? I don't have a garage or workspace to use (as of right now).

Been there, I gripped on the third floor for a few years. Take 2 or 3 old pillows and duct tape them together that works really well for most things. You could also make a mini platform, they sell 2' x 2' wood panels, use those to sandwich 4 or more layers of old carpet and you'll have a pretty good surface can even put a little rubber floor mat or something on top.

Also if you do most of your work with a loading pin using a pinch block it will tend to be quieter. The plates will land flat on the pillow instead of pinching the plates themselves where the edges are smashing into the floor. Pinch blocks, wide pinch blocks, hockey pucks with screws in them in stead of hubs, revolving handles for thick bar etc. That is an option.

I'm in an upstairs condo right now ant have 6 puzzle mats under my RT inside on the tile and have had no problems. On the patio where I have the deadlift platform set up I used 2x4's and plywood to make the platform and again put some puzzle mats on it to keep the noise down. So far I've had no complaints from the downstairs neighbors so it must be doing a good job of absorbing the thumping.

I used 4'x6'horse stable mats that I bought from my local Tractor Supply for gym flooring. They are about half the cost of rubber gym mats. If you get a couple of those and double them up you should have no problem. One may even do.
