How long have you been lifting consistently?

Probably every since I have been in my mid 20s but for the longest time I was trying to get strength results on a bodybuilders routine. Then when I turned forty I started competeing in powerlifting and this was when I started to have the best strength gains.

Actually I would love to do it unassisted but if I did a shirt it would only be single ply USAPL legal.

ing up in the garage I started feeling better all the time. Even got a couple of PRs.

I assume the bench 500 is in one of the super duper shirts that are around today?

I asked the questions for a reason. Not to rain on the parade and this is not being negative, it's being realistic. Let me just say this...ig you cannot bench 400 pretty easily. That is just training whatever way and you get there pretty quickly (no shirt and drug free of course), don't expect 500 to be a realistic goal. Benching 500 raw is a WAY bigger feat than your deadlift goal which is more reasonable.

It's like saying someone who spent a year to close the 2 is going to close a 4 as a goal.

On the other hand, we have seen newbs come on here and close a #3 in weeks. And, what do they normally become here? They are the ones who end up closing 3.5's and other big grippers. Same genetic principle applies to the normal lifts. Based on your training time under the bar and numbers you are doing, I think a more realistic goal would be a raw 400 bench.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey thanks for repying to my log and taking notice, I know a 500 bench is a big jump and it does not sound like it is realistic, but if you look at my stats at the bottom of my log I have benched 415 raw in a competition. So I already have hit the 400 raw you were talking about. I always have been a late bloomer and I know 500 is not going to happen anytime soon and I will have to have many secondary goals but the number 500 is still in my head and I will shoot for the stars as long as the good Lord allows me to lift.

I missed that. You must be coming back from injury? Your bench weights don't seem to calc out to 415 raw.

Sorry for the miss on the raw bench. :blush

You may be reading my bottom rack benches which makes the numbers lower because I start from the bottom and go up.
