Gripper Update

Have had a little time away from hard MMS workouts and today was a test day to see how my other training is affecting my top-end MMS strength. Came the closest yet on Todd Coenen's (IROC-Z) hard #3.5. Just missed it.

The picture isn't very clear but the gap was maddeningly close. I attempted it 3 other times but missed by a hair more on the other attempts.

Here's the video from today's best attempt:

It's clear to me that if I get the rest and recovery part of the equation right that I'll shut this beast in my next workout. I'd like to get the gripper sent out to be calibrated once that happens. I hope that it hasn't just seasoned enough for me to finally get closer but that's a distinct possibility.

Nice job Ben !! Sure, those handles will touch next time !

How old is this gripper ? Has it been used a lot of time ? Closed a lot of time ? I use grippers for more than 3 years and the only ones that I don't feel to season are the IM grippers which is not the case for my RB (especially narrow ones). I even find that my first #3 has become a little bit harder, due to rust on the spring and end of handles worn which make them slippery !

In my opinion, you're just getting stronger ! :tongue

PS : when you measure the strength of a gripper, what is the tolerance ? Example : 150 lbs +/- x lbs. What is a common value for x ? x must also varies with the average strength of the gripper.

Nice job, Ben! :rock

I have several 3.5's, and that one is by far the toughest of all of them. It's never been calibrated, but I would guess it to be in the upper 180 range, and possibly even pushing 190. It was barely used when I sent it to Ben. I tried a handful of negatives with it, but that's about all I did with it.
